haha ! some of these answers really made me laugh! I honestly thought this was a joke question. ok. lets keep this as simple as possible. the stork does not change its route, or switch around babies. once the stork is on its way, with your baby, it continues its journey until the baby is in your arms. nothing changes.

please, see someone who can advise you further on these matters. I never got sex ed in school, and learnt about sex etc relatively late compared to kids nowadays (Im 22 now) seriously get a book or even some teenage magazines, you'd be surprised what you would learn

A female reader, tennisstar88 United States +, writes (25 February 2012):

tennisstar88 agony auntSome women should not be allowed to reproduce.

Common sense tells you that the child will look like the biological father ONLY.

BUT, screw common sense. If you close one eye and then mentally envision your lover, then look at your baby again...you're going to definitely see the resemblance.

No, only cats can have offspring fertilized by multiple fathers, not humans. There can be kittens of the same litter having different fathers.

Humans only have one biological mother and father.

A male reader, Odds United States +, writes (21 February 2012):

Odds agony auntWhat is this... why... I don't even...

Look, Miamine is exactly right, things like this are why guys like me are (and will continue to be) so harshly critical of promiscuous women.

No, your baby will have no resemblance to the non-father unless that non-father happens to resemble the father. Kids look like their DNA makes them look. There is some evidence that the paternal resemblance tends to be pretty strong, too, as a sort of evolutionary protection against cuckoldry.

I'm not sure if you're worried that the real father will find out you've cheated, that's awful, and he deserves the truth. If you're trying to pass the kid off as someone else's, that's a vile thing which I cannot condemn harshly enough, as it victimizes and defrauds both the child, robbing him of his chance to know his ancestry, and the man, robbing him of his reproductive self-determination (morally equivalent to switching babies at a hospital). Go out, tell the truth, and try to fix the situation.

Yes, but only when she cheats on baby daddy with his identical twin brother.

So_Very_Confused agony aunt

How do you think a baby can look like someone who did not contribute to their genetic makeup?

Do you understand about sex?

Are you having sex with a man who is not the father of the baby you are carrying? Do you think that the sperm can get into your uterus and change the baby you are carrying?

The answer is no.

The truth is dear you need some serious education.

Oh and my older son looked just like his dad when he was born and did until he was about 23… now he looks like my brother… just to confuse you more…

A female reader, person12345 United States +, writes (21 February 2012):

person12345 agony auntThe way a person look is determined by genetics. A baby gets half its DNA from the mother (the egg) and half from the biological father (the sperm). It will not share any with the man you're lying to. If you cheated on your partner and got pregnant you need to do a DNA test and make sure the baby is his.

Honeypie agony auntWhoever fathered (whoevers spearm hit your egg) the baby will pass on he traits mixed with yours.. THAT is just common logic. BUT if you aren't SURE who is the daddy... then only a DNA test will tell for sure.

You sure you are in your 30's?

When its born no. But if the kid grows up around the guy they might start looking somewhat alike but thats mainly cause they have the same habits which will cause the illusion of resemblance to everyone around them.

I know this is a site to get answers, so you have come to the right place, but your question despite the age category of 36-40 makes one wonder if you are mature enough to engage in sex/intimacy with this kind of question?

The others are answering you, but I just had to vent!!!

Best you be honest with your baby's real daddy. You have not given us the full story, but sleeping around never brought a solution.

It's like saying that, if you look at a lot of Brad Pitt's pictures when you are pregnant, then the baby will look all like Brad Pitt !

People inherit their features only from their BIOLOGICAL parents and ancestors.

A female reader, Dear Mandy United Kingdom +, writes (21 February 2012):

Dear Mandy agony auntHi

I think you need to be honest from the start here, the child can look like a partner ( but only in your eyes ) it will be what you want it to be, but if your going to base your relationship on a lie not only to your partner but to your child, it will cause all sorts of problems, if not now definately down the line. What if your child needs surgery and with that will need a blood transfusion, or a Kidney? they will ask you and your partner for a match first, then you will have no choice but to confess, would you rather not deal with this now? I understand how scared you must be feeling right now, the thought of being truthful and honest may end your relationship. but it's not a relationship you value enough to be honest from the start. And its not a strong enough relationship if you have a child on the way from a different man. This is not just your life your playing with here,, its your partners and child to be. Really think about this if you decide to keep the baby, I hope you make the right choice, if not for you but for your child, a child is for life and brings with it many a hard times, be prepared for anything and everything. How would you feel if your partner came home and told you he has got another women pregnant, all these things you have to concider before you even think of decieveing someone. Please just bite the bullet here and confess all to your partner, if you both love each other enough then you WILL get through this. But if you hide this and he finds out you will not only have a child to deal with, but a life time of resentments and much much more.

A female reader, Miamine United Kingdom +, writes (21 February 2012):

Miamine agony auntIs this the old "trying to trap guy" trick. The one where you sleep with someone and get pregnant, but when he run's away you sleep with someone else and convince him he is the father. Cheater's also use this. Cheat on my husband, get pregnant and lie about why the kid is a redhead and me and my husband are not.

This trick used to work for hundreds of years, this is why men for a long time have made up a lot of noise about virginity. It's so common, a large percentage of people my age and over (40's) have been calling the wrong person daddy for all of our lives.

Nope it won't look like some guy who didn't do anything. But it might not look like daddy, it might look like you or somebody else in either you or the daddy's family.

Big problem is now, guys don't get tricked easily. They can easily go and get a DNA test and check if the baby is theirs. Not just now, but in 5years, 10years, at any time before they drop down and die. So if you convince him now, he could find out at any time that you've been trying to make a fool of him. Not a nice thing to do, use a man and make him your fool.

A female reader, chigirl Norway +, writes (21 February 2012):

chigirl agony auntDo you know how babies are made? They are a combination of your genetics and the genetics of the biological father. Put simply that means if you are married to a white man, are white yourself, but have a lover who is black, your baby with the lover will look black too!

The baby will always have the features of your side of the family, and the biological fathers side of the family. Facial structures and bodies are NOT constructed based on wishful thinking or who you grow up with...
