Not sure why but my self confidence has plummeted since my Bf cheated. How can I restore my self confidence?

A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I feel like my confidence has gone down and i dont know what to do.

I've always been a very confident girl and lately i have noticed it's not the same. little things hurt my ego and bring me down easily. i realize i am a good looking girl but i dont feel, inside, like i used to.

after my ex bf of three years cheated on me its been close to a year now that i have been single and no luck with guys. either i can't stay interested for long or i dont interest them.

sometimes i cant help but think what is wrong with me?! little things such as a guy not noticing me hurts my ego. its something im not really used to. there was a point where i could get guys left and right and now i hardly talk to any guys.

one of my good friends whom i constantly hang out with almost every other day is a very pretty girl. there is times when were out together and we both get hit on but most of the time lately i get no play and guys come up to her more and it brings my confidence down.

this may all sound very stupid and i may sound like i am self centered but i want you to know im not some type of jealous person or a "hater." i have a very laid back attitude and i do not make it obvious that my confidence is low right now. i want to know how i can get my confidence back and not let little things bring me down.

A female reader, Candid Cally United States +, writes (20 August 2012):

What I have to suggest will not directly change how you feel...what it will do is help others feel more positively towards you. It will also make you more approachable which can help boost your confidence.

If nothing else, even when you don't feel like it, have a smile on your face.
