I went on a date with a girl last night and she was on her phone for the momst of the time and talking about other guys that are interested in her, talking about previous love interests, and acting cold. she even invited another dude to come hang out?it comes off to me like she is trying to play games and see how i will react. it is very strange. do girls actually do this if they are interested? or do they do it if they think the guy is a player/whore and has to put her wealls up higher.

reader, anonymous, writes (24 January 2014): The only real way to find out I guess, is if you play her at her own games and play it really cool. Don't go out of your way to contact her or make an effort. If she's really interested she'll be keen to know why you've gone cold.

 Did she really bring along another dde on a first dtae ?? How strange. I'd say, either she had misunderstood and did not have a clue it was supposed to be a date, OR , this was her passive aggressive way to tell you she is not into you. Some girls seem incapable to say " no thanks " when asked out so they will say yes then will flake out on you... or maybe invite another guy to join you.
And the phone thing ? Just so totally rude. Unacceptable. Don't waste any more time on this girl.

 Deal-breaker right off the bat for me. I've dated someone who was incapable of putting their phone down. NEVER again. never.
She sounds like a class act. I wouldn't put up with it. I'd just move on. Very poor first impression.

In case you are adventurous, you may want to go on another date with her and do what she does - get on the phone and talk about girls making sure she is amply ignored. Then move on.

 "Girls" are not universally all the same. Geez, we're individuals, just like boys. Who knows what is on this woman's mind, and who cares? All YOU have to decide is if this is how you like to be treated or not. If not, don't bother trying to analyze her actions, just stop seeing her.

There's no way to know why other people do everything they do. I'd file this one into "who cares" and sever contact with her. This is a no brainer.
If that's not enough for you then, no, it doesn't sound like she's interested, but again, who knows for sure but her?

I'm a woman, I used to be a girl, but I don't understand this behavior. It's nothing a woman would usually do - unless she thinks you're gay or have been like a good friend forever. Anyway, it's not a sign of interest.. rather that she's interested in others and you're a side-kick.
She seems to be self-absorbed and all about the admiration she gets from others, including you. It doesn't sound like she wants a boyfriend, but a whole fan-club.
Of course, this is all out of context and I might be wrong. But before you overanalyze her actions.. think about the possibility that she's a really cold and egocentric person and you deserve better.

 I don't know why she would AGREE to go out on a date with you and then act like that. I would CERTAINLY not ask her out again, that is for sure. Let one of the MANY others guys chasing her, have her.
I would presume that she wasn't interested in you. Because I can't see if she wanted to actually DATE you, that she would behave like this.
What did you do on the date ? Other then listening to her self-important sales pitch? Did you go out for dinner? Coffee, bowling? A movie?
If this is how girls your age act on a date, I'm sorry I would cut the date short and take her home and then NEVER ask her out again. I would try asking another girl out, one who showed some interest in YOU.
