I know this is a relationship website, but please I really need advice on where in Europe has the best action? (Not in that sense). Basically, I have a film project coming up and I have always wanted to film things that are amazing, so the culture, sports, activities, people going about their daily lives, the beautiful scenery and landscapes. I want to capture it all!!

Except, I don't have much money to spend. So I want to take a weekend somewhere in europe and film these things and capture the beauty of it all. But I don't know where in europe is best to go for this sort of thing. If anyone has any input into where I should go and why, or what is there that makes the place amazing and beautiful. Then please advice would be much appreciated!! Thank you in advance to anyone who replies to this post!

Everyday life is where you want to make it. I still say Paris and Vienna are the two most beautiful cities in Europe with Prague being a close third.

A female reader, Miamine United Kingdom +, writes (8 April 2012):

Miamine agony auntAbsolutely impossible to tell you what to choose.. You are the producer and director, it's your story and it's you who is telling the story.

I'm from the UK, we got the Queen's celebration, lots of gold, history and majesty.. we also got the Olympics, so that's tons of people from all over the world running, trying their best. We also got lots of different cultures, from China town, to villages filled with the beauty of India, Pakistan and Bangladeshi, we got places filled with traditional Jewish people, we got... sigh, it's so much... traditional East end cockney's, aristocrats at study in university... tea and cricket, or strange people and strange sights.. it's my home and I love it...

But Paris, Marseilles, Oslo, Berlin, Amsterdam, every single one of them has wonderful people and wonderful sights.. the French have the louvre, Versailles (royal houses filled with gold) they have traditional markets, they have antique markets, they have Arabic and African quarters... Me mum went Germany, and they have cows, traditional farmers, sausages and such...

All of Europe has churches, they all have royal buildings, they all have art, and they all have markets, they all have beautiful buildings, modern and old, and every single one of them is different.. one country has Leonardo Di Vinci another has Constable.. I go to sit on a park bench, and it's the favourite place of Karl Marx.. I go to have a drink in the same place Madam Curie or Fleming used to drink... Europe is dripping in history and it's all linked because we is cousins .... but then it depends on whether you want a English Sausage or a French Sausage.. it depends on whether you want your royalty eating foie gras or eating partridge....

We can't write your film for you... this is an area of the world that has a deep history but is modern too, it's similar in many ways, and in the same ways it is also different... Decide the story you want to tell, then look in a guide book... you can have the London Gherkin (modern) or you can go to Madrid, Spain, or the rebuilt Germany... all is modern.. Modernity was created in Europe.. History is Europe playground.. Romance, yep, we got that, knights, horses, we got the fairytale castles in parts of Germany and Russia. If you want war, we got Nelson, the French have Napoleon, the Germans have Hitler, we have Churchill, any single country... NO! any single village or town in any European city has something to tell...

For example... It took me 3 days to look at half the louvre, but the streets of London are my home town, and I can't be bothered to look around. Even outside my door, is places where queens lived, politicians, famous people, places of interest... heck, Sherlock Holmes and the Beatles (music band ) are round the corner.

Europe is dripping in history and stories, that it's inhabitants don't even notice it... it's your story, so you must decide, what and how your willing to tell. I couldn't even beginning to describe to you, how much is in my local area (they even got a had to produce a book on me local library and cemetery because of the ton of history) let alone trying to tell you about the whole of Europe and what can be found there.

Tell your story first, then come back, and we will tell you which town, village or city is suitable. As you can see... I love me home of Europe a hell of a lot....

"When a man is bored of London, he is bored of life" - Johnson.. (and if London is Boring then you can spend the rest of your life in Europe, and still long for a lifetime more... Miamine)

London this year has the Queens Jubilee celebrations and the Olympics plus close by you have amazing countryside & coastal areas. You can stop in one of the cities many Hostels which are really cheap.

MonksDaBomb agony auntI agree with janniepeg - if you're on a tight budget, go to the smaller, quieter places, cause places like London, Rome and Paris will kill your budget!

I personally have always wanted to see the Swiss Alps, so I'd say Switzerland. Or Eastern Europe, like Prague, Czech Republic or Romania. For some reason the smaller countries to the west of Russia - Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania - I've found to be fascinating and I would imagine are very pretty.

janniepeg agony auntI would vote for quieter countries like Slovenia or Croatia, any other major city is horrible for driving. People know too much about Paris, Rome and Barcelona already.

A female reader, person12345 United States +, writes (7 April 2012):

person12345 agony auntI think Prague is generally considered the most beautiful city architecture-wise. I most enjoy people watching in Paris or Venice, but I'm sure any large city will be spectacular. Paris just has the whole romance thing going on and seemed to be the "it" place for artists and writers for awhile. My vote would be there. Though I might pick Barcelona over Paris for filming.

I think you'd be hard pressed to travel to any major European city and not find LOTS of beautiful things. You have to narrow down what you want though, it's not as though Europe is a large blob of the same culture.

A female reader, chigirl Norway +, writes (7 April 2012):

chigirl agony auntCome to Norway if you want the great scenery!

But if you are on a small budget just go to the place where it is cheapest for you to go. There's no "best" way to film every day life. I don't know, but it sounds like you're looking for something specific, or maybe some idealized image of "european" daily life. Well, there's no "European" style over every day life. It's not one country. It's not one culture. You sound like you are looking for something specific so write down what it is you want to see/film and then pick out your location based on that. I could help you with locations if you were more specific.

If you just want "European" then any random European country would suffice.

A female reader, CindyCares Italy +, writes (7 April 2012):

CindyCares agony aunt I am Italian- not extremely patriotic, in fact I find Italians rather annoying, and I enjoyed living in the States, and yet, I have honestly to say : with Italy you can't go wrong. Beauty and landscapes and harmony, and yet the hustle and bustle of daily life. Go to Rome. Or,even better, Florence. Contact ANZIF ( Australians and New Zealanders in Florence ) they might give you their insights or inputs for your project:

To be honest, though : London absolutely rocks too.

And Barcelona ( Spain ) seems very suitable for your kind of project.

Honeypie agony auntI honestly think you can go anywhere in Europe and capture it all.

England, Scotland, Ireland, Denmark, Holland, Germany, Sweden, Norway, France, Italy..and so forth.. take your pick.

Maybe google some of the countries and see what comes up.

The Northern European countries will start to "green" up in the beginning to mid May which always makes it look fresher :)
