Carpe diem quam minime credula postero..... which means "Seize the day, trusting as little as possible in the future"...

Well done you for getting through it all, i know only too well what it is like, I have come through it myself too and am getting Carpe Diem tattooed on my lower back with a Guardian Angel tattoo between my shoulder blades. They helped me through the dark times to get where i am now so it's important for me to have them done.

Good luck and live every day as if it your last :D Life too short, enjoy

A female reader, chigirl Norway +, writes (29 June 2010):

chigirl agony auntDesign your own symbol that means everything you want it to mean. My brother made his own sign, which symbolized "creator". To him at least. And it is quite a nice sign, made an aesthetic tattoo.

That is if you are the type who enjoys symbols rather than words. It then becomes a work of art, interpreted by you.

A female reader, Share Bear United Kingdom +, writes (29 June 2010):

Share Bear agony auntHoneypie has hit the nail on the head with this one- if you do get a tatoo, it ought to be something personal to you to be truly powerful.

Incidently, a friend had 'don't let the bastards grind you down' tatooed on her inner arm, just up from her wrist. I though it was really cool, and she had actually had it done to encourage her through a rough time in her life. Now that she is happier and that difficult time of her life is behind her, she's actually considering having the tatoo removed. It reminds her of worse times and the words are just no longer relevant in her life today. -She's actually quite self-conscious of it now.

I guess, in time it could eventually feel similar to telling an old ex 'I am over you!' -Your feeling the need to say this would only suggest that you aren't over them at all, and once you really are genuinely over that person or experience, you'd no longer feel the need to announce it.

A reader, anonymous, writes (29 June 2010):

i admire you for being able to overcome such a tough time. well done. this isnt any specific quote, but reading this reminded me of songs from one of my favorite bands, Flyleaf. they have very strong messages and uplifting songs including ones about overcoming and living in depression. though not all of these are about depression, they have similar topics of pushing through hardships and looking & living on the bright side of life. give them a listen perhaps. These are many that i find very moving and inspirational: "Sorrow" "Much Like Falling" "Fully Alive :not about depression but has similar meaning "fully alive, more than most, ready to smile, and love life""Red Sam" "Amy Says" "Believe In Dreams" "Breathe Today" "Perfect" "Broken Wings" "Im Sorry" "Ocean Waves" "Penholder" "Tiny Heart" "Tina" possibly you will find a quote within one of these. best of luck to you!

Honeypie agony auntI would advice you to talk to a tattoo artist about placement as well. Inner upper arm may not be a "smart" place to put a tattoo, since women tend to get "droopy" skin after pregnancies/age.. I would reconsider the placement.

A tattoo is never a good solution to show that you have overcome depression....as it will be a permanent reminder that you had it.

Try doing some positive things..maybe charity/voluntry wk. This will make you feel better

Cheers
