He likes to put lotion all over his body after a shower and keeps his place really clean....he also likes to clean his house and keep everything neat. My sister thinks he is gay just after hearing about that. I disagree cause he does not have any other gay tendencies at all. Then one day I was in bed bath and beyond with my fam and we were looking at throw rugs. I saw one and was like hey my friend has that same exact one! My sis asked what friend and i said my guy friend. She thinks he is gay. I dont know tho he has a lot of friends that are girls but likes guy things such as cars, sci-fi movies, etc. I am not sure....do you think he may be gay?? Reply to this Question

My ex boyfriend used to clean really well and put lotion on his body after a shower and we liked shopping together and buying stuff for our apt and he wasn't gay. Alot of guys who are straight like doing stuff like that.
All guys are raised differently. Some guys had their mom's do everything for them and because of that don't clean or shop. But other guys were raised helping their mom out and doing domestic chores like that and are accustomed to doing that kind of stuff. I had a gay roommate for a while who was a pig. And I've had straight boyfriends who were super neat. It has nothing to do with their sexuality but just the way they were raised.

My sis has been bugging me bout him so I thought that I would put it out here. I dont care and I still dont care. I admire his cleanliness and the fact that he likes to take good care of himself. He is a sweet guy. My sis is 19 and im 21 goin on 22. My sis is the blunt type that says what she feels. About the throw rug thing she thought it made him officially gay about the fact that I saw his throw rug in a store that specializes in home stuff like pots and pans, shower things, rugs, etc. She said that this had to make him gay. I just wanted to see if other ppl think the same way as my sis. Dats all otherwise I would not have put it up here.

 Eyeswideopen has the rare quality of always hitting very narrow targets right in the middle. I wonder why it matters, too. But I will add my grain of salt. Perhaps he is what people call "metrosexual"? And a grain of pepper: not so long ago, the men who did all your boyfriend does were indeed thought of as gay. Real men didn't clean the home, didn't know about buying home supplies, didn't keep themselves perfectly groomed, et cetera. His being so neat does not mean a thing. But it did mean something some years ago.
Of course, if he's gay, that's his business.
Where I live, which is Macho Land, a man who did all that would certainly still be looked upon as "different". So your friend is simply responding to the way she was raised.

 i was wondering how old is your sister because it sounds pretty immature what she is saying. Just because he likes to take care of himself and have a clean house that doesnt mean hes gay. But if youre still unsure just ask him.

 your sister sounds shallow to say the least. she may well have an instinct that is accurate based upon subconcious observations, but to explain her judgement as a result of stereotypes is a bit thick.
maybe he is gay, but as for the house clean-
i am gay and messy and frenzied, and probably dont fit all the usual mould criteron, though it has been said that i am a good dancer and quite stylish...

If I don't know anything else..I do know this..I'm not GAY!
I don't desire a man sexually or anything like that! I'm considered a man whore! I have been appraoched by men on the downlow and while repilsed, I just let them know I have no desire, want or need to be sucked or want to suck a man. Why don't you ask your guy friend instead of asking us who knows nothing about this dude.

reader, anonymous, writes (3 April 2008): These things that you have said about don't necessarily mean that he's gay, they could just mean he is a little feminine, quite a few men are like that, but it doesn't mean that they are suddenly attracted to men. That's the only thing that could make him gay!
So to me it just sounds as though is a clean guy who's not that macho!
