reader, anonymous, writes (25 September 2007): I was 15 when i fell preg with my first baby, my partner was 24. We had our son 1 month after my 16 B'day.
Even though we lived together from when i was 14, after my son was born the hospital notified the police. But nothing was done about it in the end due to the fact we had both parents concent and we married a year later.

 If your parents decide to press charges then yes he could. It doesn't matter the baby will be born after you turn 16, the sex took place while you were under 16. The sexual age of consent varies per State over there, some it's 16 others its 18.

 frist of all my lil sister who is now 21 with a 5 year old had her baby at 16 and her husband is 31 now and was 26 and they did not put him in jail whatsoever but my parents didn't press charges either but also my siter inlaw was 16 and had sex with a 21 year old and he went to jail for 4 months after the clinic reported he had gotten her pregnant, so it all depends sweetie. Be careful, really careful. Well there's always marrige and then for sure they wouldn't do anything about you having the baby or anything but i would'nt say throw your life away at such a young age

 Yes he can go to jail for statutory rape as he had sex with a minor(15.
Regardless of when your child was born he had sex with a minor, and im pretty sure all states minimum consent age is over 16.
And no its not true that the police will only take action if you complain they will take it regardless as its illegal.

 well there could still be a chance he goes to jail he even could get dne for rape yano and even if ya put his name on little later they will find out frm wen you had the baby and trace it back 9 months but i say if you love him and he loves you and ya both want the baby y not see wat happens it might not be for deffinate

 They can still place him in jail - and if not in jail they can seek some sort of legal action which may only involve him registering as a sex offender. And IF he has to register as an offender, there is a good chance you two will not be able to see one another again due to the stipulations of registering.
Not sure how the law will find out, but there was a case of a man who was jailed after it was discovered he father the baby of an uderage girl. Sorry to have to break the news to you.

well techniclly he can as you were underage but if you love him and he loves you and it was consenting then its alright.
also since you were close to being 16 and consented it makes it legal.
the police will only take action if you make a complaint.

He could go to jail. It is statutory rape. Every state is different, but usually you have to be eighteen and then you can have sex with anyone older than that. I think if you're 17,sex with an 18-19 year old is okay.
It all really depends on what your parents decide since you are still considered a minor and I highly doubt that you'll be able to keep a baby a secret from them. Your boyfriend should have known better.
