uncle bob agony auntToo "chicken" to see your doctor EH?

My favourite aunt, who had a problem different from yours, but a problem all the same, was too embarrassed to speak to her doctor. She started to have symptoms at age 53, but again, too embarrassed to mention it to anyone.

"Marion" died at age 57 from advanced colon cancer.

Far too young to die. Especially when you consider early stage colon cancer is the easiest to treat sucsesfully.

Who ever said "No one ever died from embarrasment"?

Please, don't become a "DEAD" chicken.

See your doctor NOW!

A female reader, DrPsych United Kingdom +, writes (8 March 2011):

DrPsych agony auntYou need to see a gynaecologist with the mindset that they see all sorts of problems from that end of the body. There is nothing that you have that will shock them, so get brave and make an appointment. They won't judge you for being a virgin at your age - it is your choice and frankly lots of woman are...women in the church ministry who remain celibate, many lesbian women never have sexual intercourse with a male and so forth. I appreciate it is not the most fun away to spend an afternoon but you need a medical explanation. Only a doctor can do that. It could be cervical dysplasia (which requires early treatment) - years ago there was a belief that virgins didn't need cervical screening since most problems developed from the HPV sexually transmitted virus. Nowadays there is a view that all women need annual screening for abnormalities as there are multiple causes of cervical dysplasia and cancer that don't all involve sexual contact. The clots could also be coming from higher up - you could have polps, endometriosis or hyperplasia in the womb lining as three examples. I had problems with bleeding at your age and it took me a while to get to the doctor - glad I did, I was developing cancer of the cervix and womb through years of doctor-avoidance. A few appointments later and I was (and remain) just fine! Get yourself down the doctors clinic and stop torturing yourself.

tennisstar88 agony auntWe are not medical professionals, so we cannot properly diagnose you.

Bleeding from your vagina with no penetration, not even his fingers(?), doesn't sound normal.

You need to visit your gyno so he/she can tell you what it is wrong. Doctors are the ONLY ones who can help you.

A female reader, Tisha-1 United States +, writes (8 March 2011):

Tisha-1 agony auntHonestly, based on what you've written, the first doctor you should see is a psychiatrist. She will be able to help you with whatever mental block you have and can also prescribe medication that will help relax you so you could be properly examined by a gynecologist.

The point is that you need to be cared for properly by a qualified medical doctor, not have your condition guessed at by a bunch of amateur, unqualified anonymous strangers, well-meaning though we may be.

Don't you deserve to have the best possible care? You owe it to yourself to make that first appointment; the rest will follow. Doctors have seen just about everything you could ever imagine.

Your other option is to become a doctor or nurse yourself, so you would be qualified to examine and treat whatever you might have going on there.

Good luck!

A female reader, fishdish United States +, writes (8 March 2011):

fishdish agony auntdo you have any sexual contact? if he fingers you or if you two are rubbing on each other, then the blood makes more sense, might just be you're being too vigorous; otherwise, go to the gyn; no one likes to go to the doctor, especially when it involves issues 'down there' but at least then you'll know you have nothing to worry about, instead of pretending nothing's wrong.

person12345 agony auntWhy are you scared to see a gynecologist? They don't bite! I'm afraid medical help is not a good thing to seek online. It doesn't hurt to get an exam and she can tell you if what's going on is normal or not.
