i'm really confused and my heart has been really broken please help.my sister told me about a guy that was into me and that wanted to get to know me i saw him at a club once i thought he knew who i was thinking my sister showed him pictures of me i said hi and he just hugged me he was in fact drunk he also spilled a drink but later baught me a drink..later as the night went on he left and his best friend had baught me another drink and danced with me when i told his friend my age he walked away(i was 16 at the time)..a few weeks later i saw that the guy that spilled a drink on me was at my sisters house and i've heard he always comes around so i was there as well just as he said hi to me he went on and called his best friend to come over. his best friend came and it was so awkward because i like the other guy and his best friend is just there. after that a few weeks later my sister was having a party at her house so i went with my cousins later after having a few drinks and being hyper that he was at the same place as me i told my cousin that i liked the guy and pointed out to him next thing i know the guy sat next to me and asked for my number then i suggested that we go outside we went outside and talked for about three hours just getting to know each other.

the next few days we texted back and forth(i always texted first,he only texted once first) he called me babe and that he was feeling me i flirted the same and i fell for him. we then decided to hang out and we never did first time i canceled because i wasnt ready so i made up that i had to do something the next time he never texted me about it and just went camping with a couple of friends the third time he couldnt because it was his friends birthday.. then we just decided to be better off as friends.i deleted his number because i was just frusturated at him now i'm just deperessed that i did because i would want to text him right now

could age be something to make him walk away from because when i told his friend how old i was he walked away and his friend is a year older then me? i am right now 17 and he is turning 22..is there a problem there? please help why did he flirt wit me then all of a sudden just leave

A female reader, CindyCares Italy +, writes (12 July 2010):

CindyCares agony auntAge could have something to do with it,maybe he decided that at 17 you are a bit young for him. But the main problem is, I think, just your having expectations. You see flirting as a declaration of intent, a sort of promise of better things to come... and some times it is so, but not that often. For a lot of people, flirting is flirting, it does not mean anything special. It's a passtime, a sport, a hobby, a way to feel good about yourself,a habit. It does not really have to lead to something more or mean something more. Particularly if he had been drinking !!

A guy who is interested in you will be much more proactive in pursuing you and won't let so many chances of meeting you pass him by.

Don't be mad and don't be sad- these things happen to everybody. Next time ,just do not poy your hopes so high up if you do not see more interest for you since the very beginning.
