You must never take the word of a man who is already a relationship. Because he's basically a liar and cheat. He has a girlfriend, and is already breaking hearts. So back away and let him live his own life. Don't have a thing to do with him, unless you want to look bad in front of everyone else and wind up being cheated on by him.
