A female United States age 18-21, anonymous writes:

Hello Aunt's and Uncle's this is about a friend and I'm going to use my real Aunt's and Uncle's names instead of the real names. Hopefully Amy or my parents won't get nosy and look at my phone! My (only) friends at school are: Amy, Laura, Matt, and Kevin.

Problem One:

We HAD open lunch for all Honor Roll students on Fridays. That meant we could leave school and go wherever we wanted for lunch as long as we were back in time for class. Most kids went through the woods behind the school to a strip mall where there's a grocery store, Chinese place, or fast-food place. I just walked straight through with Matt BUT some kids went off the trail and Vaped weed. Matt did it once but I didn't tell. He has insomnia and Vapes on his OWN out his bedroom window. Amy and Laura didn't know that. Just me and Kevin. Amy and Kevin don't make the Honor Roll and Laura wasn't allowed to go to open lunch.

Problem Two: My Dad recently lost his job because of a DUI (he was a maintenance man at my old CATHOLIC Elementary School) so we don't have insurance or money for trips with Youth Group or really for Christmas or Birthdays until he works again. Anyway, me and Amy work at a restaurant and my boss secretly gave me $100 towards a trip this spring with the Youth Group to DC. I hid it in my phone case BUT

I didn't get the chance to tell my parents IN PRIVATE before Amy grabbed my phone for something and saw it. She asked where I got it and I told her it was none of her business. She kept it and wouldn't give it back unless I told her what it was for and where I got it. She said it wasn't fair or right and she was STILL telling my dad as soon as he picked us up. I WAS trying to tell him, but in PRIVATE. She got in the car and said, "Catharine can go to DC now, are you going to let her?" She told the whole story. Dad turned the car around and made me bring the $100 back to my boss! Amy would NOT SHUT UP about how maybe our boss was creepy and how it's not right for him to meddle (HIM!) and how SHE wasn't allowed to go because her parents were worried about Pro-Choicers, other liberal protesters, muggers, robbers and all that. So my parents decided that even if I had money, I still couldn't go because it was too dangerous. (We were going for a Pro-Life thing).

THEN Amy out of nowhere talked to my MOM and said "you know what else Catharine is keeping from you? People do weed at open lunch. She told them about all the rumors and called Matt's parents and started to ask around. Then my parents went to the school and complained and basically decided I was not allowed to go to open lunch anymore. So Amy ruined my trip to DC AND open lunch with her mouth.

Problem Three: I gave Laura a journal for her birthday and she's been keeping it at school because her parents are really nosy and go through her things. Since they go through her locker she was storing it in Kevin's locker. She even wrote over old entries so no one would see what she wrote because she's SMART. Amy saw the journal in Kevin's locker and asked to see it. Kevin said no. It wasn't his or hers to look at. She grabbed it anyway and he grabbed it back. She went and told that he had Laura's journal and had stolen it from her (a LIE) and he had to give it back to Laura in front of her parents who DIDN'T KNOW she had a journal. So now her parents won't let her talk to any of us until she tells them what she wrote in there or until WE tell. Only KEVIN and I kny Laura's biggest secret and we're not telling that's mostly what she wrote about.

So Amy has ruined my trip, open lunch, and Laura's privacy all with her mouth. How do we get her to stop?

I want to be clear that I WAS planning to tell my Dad about the $100.00 but Amy told before I had the chance to. I wasn't hiding it from him. Also, I've NEVER Vaped, I just didn't tell on anyone who did. Laura's secret is not harmful or against the law and has nothing to do with sex.

OP, based on what you wrote, Amy did, in fact lie, saying that Kevin had stolen Lauras journal, when in fact, he was permitting Laura to store it in his locker! As a retired law enforcement agent, if Amy ever hopes to be in law enforcement, she will need to learn ethics, and that there are rules which govern seizure of property and the testimony of an officer. Amy, in fact stole your phone and a hundred dollars. She also stole Lauras journal, which is not hers or entrusted to her! Officers who do unethical things, on foolish impulses, generally end up in prison or the cemetary! You, Young Lady, need to be upfront with your parents on All Things! You need to choose your friends more wisely, as well! Your friends who are vaping with Pot, are playing a dangerous game! All of the vaping deaths in the USA, are linked to products containing THC, the active drug, in marijuana! I too, will pray for your Dads recovery from alcohol addiction, and for a good job, for him, and for you, and your whole family! GOD Bless!!!

Typo Correction:

"She's just a kid, but she also knows right from wrong."

P.S.

Why would Laura have a secret she would only tell you and Kevin, and not her own parents? It must be pretty bad!

You and Kevin aren't really being good friends. Maybe you're both being a bad-influence on Laura!

That's why her parents won't let her hangout with you!

You all had secrets that were potentially dangerous to you. If not for Amy, the tattle-tale, you would be taking money you shouldn't. You hid the fact you took a large sum of money from an adult, your boss. You didn't earn it. Amy did you a favor, even if she had bad-intentions; but it ended in good-results. Your parents found-out! You knew they wouldn't approve, so you hid it! Don't hurt your parent's feelings, while they're going through serious financial-hardship right-now. They can't afford things you want and need, and that's very painful for them. I'm not excusing your father's drinking, that was hurtful for all of you. Washington DC may not be safe during these times. Too much is happening!

Large crowds of protestors are very unpredictable; and nutcases don't care about the safety of kids. Tempers get out of hand, and the violence could explode...literally!!!

When you do things you shouldn't, while you're still an innocent child; God keeps an eye on you, and makes sure the things you hide get exposed to protect you. Amy is just one of His tools. Everything she ever told was the truth! She never lied on any of you! It makes her an outcast and the enemy; while keeping you guys out of trouble. Whether she is motivated by jealousy doesn't matter. She's the only level-headed kid in the whole flock of you! She's the sounding-alarm! DANGER WILL ROBINSON!

You're mad at Amy right-now; so you will try to make her seem like a blabber-mouth and a rat! You will probably all gang-up on her. You better not! One thing I do know, she won't let you do it without telling somebody!

Vaping is putting kids in the hospital and the grave. Letting a group of preteens runaround unsupervised leaves you to your own devices; while off school premises. During school hours?!! You abused the privilege, and it's good that it was taken from you. You are vulnerable to all kinds of danger with no-one around to protect you. It's a crazy world! You don't know how to live in it yet! Not on your own!

Laura must have had some pretty scary things to write in her journal; to make her parents go off the rails like they did. If she is a troubled-youth, they have to monitor her closely. You don't know the details about her private home and family-life; only what she shares with you. Her parents are responsible for staying on top of things; because kids keep secrets that are sometimes deadly!!! You couldn't help her, if she was in danger; or had serious emotional-problems. Instead, you'd keep her secrets; and have to bear the guilt, if something happened that could have been prevented. If only her parents knew about it in-time! They would be angry with you for not telling them! You're too young to deal with that!

There was nothing Amy revealed that shouldn't have been revealed. She's considered a snitch; but if not for kids like Amy, a lot of kids would be molested, missing, or dead! Amy has a problem about exposing everyone when they're up to no-good. You and your other buddies don't like her; but God works through Amy to keep you all safe. To you, when she snitches, she deserves stitches! She's a parent's dream!

If you don't want to get busted, stop doing things behind your parents' backs! Angels watch over you! Even if you dump Amy as a friend, your little secrets will get-out in otherways; because you're all just kids, and what your parents don't know could hurt you.

God bless Amy! She talks too much, but someday she'll grow-up and become a cop, FBI agent, or work for the CIA; and she'll do undercover work that will keep us safe! The rest of you may hurt yourselves before you grow-up to be anything. Yes...she does bad things too! She's just kid, but she also knows right from wrong.

Amy didn't ruin anything, everyone who was up to no-good got caught. Journals are to be kept private. Parents who know their kids have emotional or social-disorders have to be very vigilant for their safety; so they may be concerned about anything their teen won't share with them. If you were open and honest kids, would that be necessary?

I don't care if you don't like my post. I care about people, and it makes me feel better to know everyone is safe, healthy, and happy. That can't always be the case in reality.

I will put in a prayer that your dad finds work; and all works-out for your family. I'm sorry why he lost his job. He still shouldn't have to worry about what happens to you. If he's drinking, he has enough problems to deal with.

May God bless and continue to protect you, sweetheart.

Honeypie agony auntSo it's time to not be FRIENDS with Amy any more.

She seems to meddle in everyone's life, EVEN THOUGH she might have good intentions (I doubt it), it seems she also does it to create drama in everyone else lives. Then she can just stand back and watch EVERYONE else get in trouble. SH!T friend.

She is a shit friend. And I would tell her. Point blank. "I don't want to be your friend any more. I'm upset that you ruined open lunches for me and that you ruined my change to go to DC PLUS you made my dad not trust me. It was NONE of your business!" I think you HAVE to be blunt with her.

If your friends decide to also "unfriend" her in person, fine, if they want to hang with her, fine as well, I would just NOT partake hanging with her any more.

While you all shouldn't HIDE stuff from your parents, IT's NOT her job to tell on everyone. That is not what a good friend does. What is in Laura's diary is between HER and her parents. I think a good friend would not tell them, unless it's something that SHE needs help with and that a parent can help with. I think it's sad that she can't keep a diary at home. But again, that is between her and her parents.

And by the by... waping IS NOT helping for insomnia. So bad excuse to be waping. It's dumb to do at any age, while I CAN see it being used by an ADULT who is quitting real cigarettes there is no excuse for teens or kids to wape, it's lame and unhealthy. But, not really YOUR problem.

Amy sounds like she's jealous. You had open lunch and she didn't so she got it taken from you. She couldn't go to Washington DC so when it looked like you could, she made sure it didn't happen. You guys were hiding a diary from her so she told on Laura.. it's jealousy
