I say don't give up based on one bad experience. He's not pressuring you and won't and you want to do this for him so there's no reason to give up until you've explored all options.

I don't understand the part where you say you tried, but were sick. Were you sick when you tried to do it? Or did you become sick by doing it? And what form of sick, do you throw up?
If it is the taste then good news! The taste can be eliminated by him drinking pineapple juice, or eating pineapple, about 5-12 hours beforehand. His sperm will not taste anything, or at least barely anything. He should also not drink coffee for the 5-12 hours up to the blowjob, nor eat red meat.
