 I don't think the association between a hairless vulva and a proclivity for sex with children is very strong anymore, what with a good 95% of the porn I've seen in the past few years featuring women with very little pubic hair, if any. So if it's your preference, don't feel bad about it. You like what you like and the only thing you can really control is how you get this idea across to your girlfriend.Do a search for shaving on this site. Plenty of posts by girls complaining of discomfort and/or sensitivity after shaving their pubic hair will come up. She might be aware of this and reluctant to shave because of it.If she is really hairy, as you say, just trimming well should make a huge difference and I'd think you could suggest this without coming off as a cad because it doesn't have the irritating effects shaving can. My girlfriend goes to get it waxed, which sounds even worse to me but she claims it's not so bad; we can't have sex for a day or so after she gets it done but it's preferable to a stubbly genital area. If you're not gutsy enough to come out and tell her that she's too hairy, you could look for some kind of salon package that includes a bikini wax and buy it as part of her Christmas present.All of this is much more likely to go over well if you make sure to keep your own pubic hair under control. Trimming makes everything look neater (and bigger).

And guys, it's personal preference.. Some people just don't like it. Heck, I'M a girl, and I think it is disgusting; I keep it shaved, especially if I plan on engaging in intimate activities. Just the same way, I prefer my boyfriend to be clean. (Not completely shaved like myself, but trimmed and not bushy). In my opinion it's the same idea of keeping clean down there. Is smelly and dirty natural? Sure. Is it pleasant? ...No. Lighten up on him.

 Well granted, I'm a much older man, and I don't know when or why all this hair removal began. Having experienced both hairy and bald (younger) vulvas, I think I prefer at least a fair amount of pubic hair. After all, it's natural, but trimmed is a bit better than totally bushy.

 Think about it for a moment, hairless "down there" is usually for little immature girls, maybe before you ask your girlfriend to shave you should have your testicles waxed as an example ..... I am sure it would feel "nicer" for her
