Hey aunts and uncles

I'm on the implanon contraceptive (rod in my arm) when i went on to this type of birth control the doctor told me it was completely effective and the risk of getting pregnant was something like 0.05% however im getting worried, I've missed periods(4 so far), I've been throwing up on a morning or whenever near smells (like food cooking, rubbish bins, petrol stations.. that kind of thing), I feel tired a lot and i have a few stomach cramps.

Please could anyone tell me if they know anything about this contraceptive. or if anyones been on this birth control before.

thanks xxx

k_c100 agony auntIf you have missed 4 periods then something is seriously wrong - you need to go to see your doctor now!

You really should have taken a test after you missed the first period, if it is the worst case scenario and you are pregnant then you could be over 4 months pregnant!

The contraception you are using is very effective and it is very rare for it to fail, but there is always a tiny chance that it might not work. So take a pregnancy test at home and make an appointment to see your doctor. Whether you are pregnant or not, you still need to figure out why your periods have stopped!

I hope this helps and good luck!

pebble agony auntYou need to take a test :)

All the symptoms you've described can be signs of pregnancy so take a test as soon as you can. Then you can work out what happens next. Take it step by step, and try not to worry until you have a positive pregnancy test in front of you (easier said than done I know). Good luck!!

I was told periods were likley to stop on this or be eratic, if your throwing up though perhaps you should do a test, or see a doctor to see if your body is rejecting it..

Honeygirl agony auntSweetie, I am not sure about the contaceptive you are using, but I do have a question, after the rod was inserted in your arm did you wait for any period of time before having sex or did you have sex right after it was inserted? Why I am asking is that some of these contraceptives require time to start working. I would suggest that you take a home pregnancy test as well, just to put your mind at rest.
