writes: I'm worried, because I know I'm not unattractive, but I complain sometimes about my hair, or my make up etc. I'm worried this puts my long term boyfriend off me, because I keep seeing people say on this site that men prefer women that are confident in their looks.Is this true? reader, anonymous, writes (7 February 2008): I agree with all the Aunts...very good advice. So you need to stop complaining about your hair and makeup-he will get turned off. Men like a woman who is happy, confident, healthy and fun. A man will never, ever obssess about his ladylove's appearance or imperfections, unless he's a vain, boorish guy himself. And you don't want a guy like that anyways, do you. Here it is, real men want real women--fun-loving, happy, independent, quirky ---imperfections and all. If they love you, they simply don't care. How can you show more confidence? Poise, grace and and awesome smiles.that's all that is required. And be sincere and mean it. Try this experiment...at 7 am in the morning, (with no make up on and hair a mess) give him a bright, winning smile and give him a big morning hug. He'll think you are a beauty like no other. lol

 I must admit when i hear a woman always moaning on about her make up and hair, i find its a real turn off, you are trying to be some one you cannot possibly be, to blazes with what men say about woman on this site, that is there selfish opinion, it does not relate to you.
i think you need to be more confident with your self, you need to be the real you and not let other people ruin your life, your b/f should be telling you what a wonderful person you are, and with or without make up your the most beautiful woman on the planet, because he loves you, if he is not telling you that then it is time you gave him a kick in the pants.
I have no reason to believe that you are not a beautiful and as soon as you realize that fact, the better your life will be.

 Hi,what puts guys off more is a woman who obsesses about her looks not a woman who wears little makeup.Personally I hate woman who pile on the makeup it makes them look unnatural and false.

 I'm not sure what "confident looks" means. I can tell you that everyone likes to see a well-groomed lady, provided her grooming is not excessive. And a pretty girl should have even less problems with that. Perhaps you're feeling a little unsure?
The one thing that never ages, and is always there even if you don't have any make up, is who you are. I know that you can have a great personality and no one will notice unless you're attractive to the eye, too; but I would say that who you are is more important than how you look.

everyone moans about their hair or make-up or weight sometimes! but you must have some confidence as you admitt you are not unattractive! (which is great)
and im sure if your long term boyfriend truely loves you he will try and make u feel better and compliment you everytime you feel your hair doesnt look good enough but to him he proberly thinks you look beautiful!
(we all have bad hair days n make up days tho)
so dont worry we cant be 100% confident at ALL times!
