So_Very_Confused agony auntYes it’s possible to get pregnant when you have your period. It’s not common but it’s possible. Do you understand how your body works?

You will get your period at the END of your cycle not the beginning. IT comes AFTER you have ovulated and NOT gotten pregnant. About two weeks after your period starts you will ovulate (based on a 28 days cycle) and then you can get pregnant (three days before ovulation, the day of ovulation and about 3 days after ovulation are the most fertile times…

It’s actually pretty darn hard to get pregnant and about 50% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage and many women don’t even know they are pregnant (a very good thing I think)….

In addition, leaking colostrum from your nipples will not occur EARLY in pregnancy… that won’t happen till close to the END of the pregnancy as your body prepares to make milk. YOU have no milk until AFTER the baby is born.

If you are old enough to have sex, you are old enough to be mature enough to see if you are pregnant… and wow if you don’t want another abortion, then don’t have one if you are pregnant… you can be a single mom or you can give the baby up for adoption.

chigirl agony auntI think you need to act like the adult you are. Follow standard procedure, wait until you are supposed to have your period, if it doesn't come then take the pregnancy test.

If you're pregnant you can't "wish" it away by pretending it's not there and not take the test... You know that. And yes, highly unlikely that you are pregnant, but sure it could happen. However 2 weeks is really early for any pregnancy symptoms and I think you are just freaking yourself out. Calm down. Wait for your period to come on again.

If condoms are only 90% safe I'd have at least 200 children by now!!! Used properly condoms are very safe, not so safe after playing for a few seconds without one though! Its unlikely you are pregnant with no other symptoms, but just go to the doctor to be sure and relax, but you might have to listen to a lecture on safe sex!

bluecow agony auntHighly unlikely but it IS a possibility.

As you are only 2 weeks in, any home test may be negative, however a doctor can run a blood screening test to be sure. Remember too that condoms are only around 90% effective, so if you have had sex within the last couple of months with a condom then it is possible to be pregnant then. Many women experience period like bleeding during pregnancy.

Can I suggest something else too, actually something almost more serious than a pregnancy test.

Go to the doctor and explain your nipples are leaking. Even if you were in the first couple of weeks of pregnancy you would be unlikely to be producing milk (unless you already have a child under 3?). This is 99.9% of the time nothing to worry about but it can be an indication of more serious health problems such as breast cancer.

I dont say this to worry you, but to spur you into visiting your doctor asap to rule this out. Remember to explain everything, the tenderness and the discharge.

Please please let us know how you get on xxx

Anonymous 123 agony auntVery unlikely to get pregnant, but please take a test to make sure. None of us here can help you regarding this and a few affirmations and contradictions from the agony aunts here cannot make a difference to anything that is happening to your body.

Only a pregnancy test can help you.

tennisstar88 agony auntGet off this site and go take a pregnancy test.

It's not common, but you can ovulate right after your period.

You wouldn't already be producing breast milk. A lot of your "symptoms" are most likely in your head.

Still concerned about what this could be, then call your doctor. This isn't webMD, we can't diagnose you.

It's probably not likely but it's possible. You need to do a test or go to your doctor to see what's going on. Nipple discharge could be a sign something is wrong.

Can I get pregnant during my period?

Pregnancy can occur from intercourse that takes place during a period. This is because sperm can live in the body for up to five days, and if a woman ovulates soon after her period, then conception could take place from intercourse that occurred during her period.

Can I ovulate during my period?

For women who have regular cycles, ovulating during your period is highly unlikely. Some women have very irregular cycles, maybe coming once every 3 months or 2-3 times in one month, and these women can have the odd occurrence of ovulating during a period or what is believed to be a period. Still, the chance of ovulating during a period is unlikely. But because sperm can live in the body for 3-5 days, pregnancy could occur from intercourse that takes place during a period.

Can I ovulate right after my period?

The answer to this is determined by how many days are in your cycle. For example, if you have a 21 day cycle ( from the beginning of one period to the beginning of another) and you bleed for 7 days, then yes, you could ovulate right after your period. This is because we know ovulation can occur 12-16 days before your next period begins, and this would put you ovulating at days 6-10 of your cycle.

Please don't take this the wrong way OP but if a teenager came here asking this question I'd tell them "If you don't know the answer to that question you're not old enough to have sex."

OP of course you can get pregnant on your period and yes you can get pregnant from putting it in just once. You can get pregnant from masturbating after giving a guy a hand job.

Now the possibility of it happening are very low but there is still chance. It only takes one in the billions of sperm we guys produce to do it and crazy things happen OP. I know a couple who recently got pregnant even though they were wearing a condom and it didn't break. I know another that got pregnant while on the pill because she has been sick for a week beforehand and apparently the pill just passed through her system without being absorbed.

OP with any physical changes in your body you should just go seek the advice of your doctor. This sounds like some kind of hormone imbalance or something, it may be from pregnancy or it may be the signs of some other condition. So go talk to your doctor to put your mind at ease.

Please do a bit of sex ed. research OP. It really doesn't take too much effort to become pregnant by mistake.
