are tattoos a turnoff for most women?

i have one tattoo at the moment, girls don't seem to mind that, but im looking at getting another one on my back, legs and my forearm.... do you think this would be enough to make some girls lose interest?

and for the record, none of these tattoos are offensive in any way or anything like that.

thanks a bunch

xSarax agony aunthi, it depends what tattoo you get. some look cheap and tacky. most look nice on muscles. i think that men with tattoos can take pain so im attracted to them because im an idiot and fall for the bad guys. if you get one and want to pull just make a good impression on the girl whether you are a bad guy or a good one.

A female reader, TasteofIndia United States +, writes (6 June 2007):

TasteofIndia agony auntSome people love them, some people don't. I can think of many of my friends who see a guy with tattoos and want to throw themselves at him... but I can think of some who prefer their men's bodies pure of art.

As for me? I can go either way. My boyfriend has one tattoo and I think it is incredibly sexy. I've definitely seen some guys who work the tattoo look and it gets me drooling...

If tattoos are what you want, go for them. You should be the one to define yourself!

in my opinion agony auntit really depends at the end of the day, my view on tatts are they define your character, everyone thinks differently, some think they are hot, some dont. do what you think is best for you, you only live once. a girl should like you for who you are.

all the best.

A female reader, TELLULAH United Kingdom +, writes (6 June 2007):

TELLULAH agony auntHi,

Thought I would add my opinion.

My son-inlaw has a lot of tattoo's. Some are really good and other's are horrid. To my mind I agree with Stina, It doesn't look so hot if they are all spread about and with no meaning in them. My daughter has a few, that are really lovely, very meaningfull and quite retro just like her, so they really suit her. My son also has a few, that are really nice, only one he regrets.

You have to think carefully before having them done, dont have one just because its in fashion and everyone else has the same. Be really selective, to whom, you go to and get them done.

I dont have any because my partner hates them, but I think some of them are a work of art and would love one.

By the way, My son is a Barber, my Daughter is a make up artist, and there partner's are both very talented haidresser's. They deal with the public all the time so I dont think any of them have ever had a problem with it.

They are so poular now, that unless you have something on your face or neck, I dont think most employers would object.

If you are going to get one make sure its great XXX

A female reader, stina United States +, writes (6 June 2007):

stina agony auntHey bubbloo, I work 10+ hours a day in an extremely conservative office environment and I love (well designed) tattoos. ;P I think that's a pretty broad generalization there to say that people who are into bikes are into tattoos and people who are into work are not. (I don't even really see how these things can be compared. One is a hobby and the other isn't. Maybe I don't get what you mean...) It's really based on individual tastes, don't you think? Not if someone is work-based...but people into biking can be work-based, too.

bubbloo24 agony auntMost girl who are into rockers and motocyclists liek tattoos whereas girls who are more... well more into their work prefer clear skin...

I personally like a few tattoos but I'm not into loads and loads of them, I say get the forearm one but not sure about the legs - no one's gonna see them unless ya where shorts, same for your back lol

Have fun, make sure you get a good tattoist tho, you don't want any infections.

A female reader, stina United States +, writes (6 June 2007):

stina agony auntOh yeah - before you go getting tattoos all over the place and turn into "Spot," have you considered just concentrating on one area of your body? Such as a sleeve or chestplate? My friends and I agree that "Spots" look a bit silly... (I know you were looking for girl's opinions, so I figured I'd add that in.) ^_^

A female reader, geordiegirl22 United Kingdom +, writes (6 June 2007):

geordiegirl22 agony auntSome girls could find it a turn off, but those girls are stuck up girls. Your body is your body and you do what you feel you want to do with it. I find them a turn on! Especially on toned arms (not over muscley thou lol).

I think it is much more of a problem if your a girl with tattoos, i cant count how many times lads have been put off by them, and there not offensive at all (rose, pegasus, butterfly, and carpe diem).

A female reader, stina United States +, writes (6 June 2007):

stina agony auntHi Jmac,

Depending on the tattoos they can either be hot or just, well, dumb. Like H.R. Giger work would be really nice if done well. And Sailor Jerry stuff could even look okay (even though it's done a lot.) But things like cartoon characters such as Taz? And tribal tattoos?? lol Trashy! Lame!

But I think the best tattoos are those created by the person they are going on. (That's what I'm doing with my current piece.) If you're not a good designer, tell your concept to your tattoo artist and s/he will draw it up exactly how you envision it.

Everyone's different, though. Personally, I like tattoos that are actual artwork as opposed to something that you find on the studio wall. But if it's by *you* then in my opinion it's more meaningful.

But who cares what *girls* (or boys) think anyway??? Get the tattoo for **yourself**!!! ^_^

Take care.

flower girl agony auntsome people like them some don't i personally don't because i remember my grandad having them and it being one of his biggist regrets in life, if someone really likes you though it should not make any difference weather you have tattoos or not.

Take care.xx.
