I have a friend who is 40 who has a "tramp stamp." She has been with the same man, now her husband, since she was 12 years of age, so I would harldy call her an actual tramp or whore. She is a very nice, wholesome, good person. She just happens to like tattoos. It's just a fashion statement. It would be rare for a woman who actually regarded herself as a whore to brand herself as such, lol.

reader, anonymous, writes (28 May 2008): to assume that just because a woman has a tattoo in this area or any other area means that she sleeps around is narrow minded and sexist.i have several tattoos ,including my lower back and i have been with the same guy my entire life. i cant believe that people believe this crap.but then again it is believeble in a way, after all there are quite a few people out there that believe that if a man sleeps around then he is cool, popular, a player or whatever, but if a woman does the same thing then she is labeled a whore slut ho etc.i have been called a whore because i have refused to sleep with or go out with a guy since im married. its just another way for people to bring women down, and others wonder why so many young girls are promiscous. young girls think that this is what expected of them because of sexist men.grow up and get a life.if u assume that a woman is a tramp because of a tattoo, then u are a low life sexist pig.

It's there for a reason, to draw attention to it, and to have another reason to wear the low cut jeans, and shirt that's 10 sizes too small. But who am I to complain, they put out, and if they didn't put out my guy would turn blue... soo

reader, anonymous, writes (3 May 2007): Some have been harsh with you, man. Perhaps not whores, but they definitely are looking for the attention. I say this because its on their back, therefore they don't see it. Also, women with them show it off a lot.
In conclusion, not whores, but probably not virgins. Also, they want the attention... which isnt so bad.

I would imagine that unless the tattoo itself actually reads 'tramp stamp', this is a misconception. The women are labeling themselves in tattoo form and it seems that this is being misinterpreted by those who aren't familiar with the language of 'tattoo'.I don't believe that there is a way of being able to tell which women (or men for that matter) are 'sleep-arounds' judging by the way that they look, unless pinning condoms onto yourselves becomes fashionable...but until then, I imagine that the best thing to do would be to find a hobby. Do something you enjoy, something to channel your energies into. Maybe get a tattoo that will get you lots of sex.

My own adult son made a reference to this very thing one day, about women having 'tramp stamps' on their backs and boy, did I straighten him out! What an unfair, derogatory term-to label women as sluts, tramps, whores simply because they have a tatoo in that area of their body. I think tatoos on the lower back are just another fad that has gained popularity among women of all ages. I know some wonderfully, gifted, intelligent, older women, who are professionals, (lawyers, teachers)that have them. People put tatoos all over their bodies so why is this one the “bad” one? Lets get real and behave maturely here..does it really matter? Tatoos are a choice ..your body is yours do what you will so we do not have the right to label women as whores and criticize them for their choices.

 I have a tatoo on the small of my back and i have been in a realtionship for 10 years. I cant believe you could think a girl slept around just because of a tatoo (i certainly dont) and i think its really small minded of any males that think that statement is true. You wont keep any girlfriends with sexist ideas like that.

 It is a myth.
Just because you may meet some women with tattoos on their back that are promiscous, it does not mean that they all are.
To be able to read if men or women are sluts is not that easy. You have to get to know them a bit closer than that, look inside not outside.
