Why do people believe - or not believe - in God?

A female United Kingdom age 30-35, *xAnGelXxx writes:

Im just curious here, I wanna hear from people who are and are not in anyway, religious. To the folk who to believe there's a god, why do you believe so? A personal miracle happened to you, or some sort of experience that has made you believe? Or were you just brought up to believe in god, not really your own choice? And to those who are like myself, who don't believe there's a god, why don't you? And to either one, what do you think of the opposite, the believer, or the nonbeliever?

A female reader, RoseG United States +, writes (25 May 2009):

I guess I'm pretty much childlike when it comes to believing In God! I ALWAYS try to be! I just turned 19 SOOOOO....hmm, no I was going to say I'm still practically a child but I don't think so lol. Anywho that's besides the point(gr...i'm always going off topic, it's the darn ADHD lol).

Okay so I believe in Jesus Christ!! He makes me so joyful! You know what I like to think???? That there is a difference between joy and happiness. On this earth we can be happy. I do believe money buys happiness. But happiness is only temporary. So OF COURSE if we have money and buy something we like we will be happy in that moment, there's nothing wrong with that. But then, happiness fades away. My grandpa died of cancer 5 months ago and it was very painful to watch him for 2 years to die SO SLOWLY, what a fighter he was. Anyways, I was definitely not happy during those times. I was sad. But in the midst of my sadness I was somehow SO INCREDIBLY JOYFUL! I think happiness brings a smile to people's faces but JOY really brings tears to people's eyes(being speechless and just overflowing with this joy makes it IMPOSSIBLE not to cry)or you could say joy makes the soul smile! : )

Joy is just one reason as to WHY I BELIEVE IN GOD! Of course it isn't logical, or scientific, or this or that, BLAH BLAH BLAH!!

You know what is really hard to do but I think is actually how we can learn if God is real? Okay, let's see if you can wrap your mind around this one and TRY IT, I DARE YOU! (but it is up to you, we all have our free will) When God died on the cross, he took our sins away as a living and fully aware sacrifice (he had the choice to get down from the cross and was fully capable with the power to but willingly died for each and every one of YOU! 3 It's like this, we are all guilty. Each of us have sin. We are imperfect and that is the crime. We have committed sins. We have lied, thought impure thoughts from time to time, etc. etc...it continues, the sin continues. So how do you think we can go to heaven (just pretend there is a heaven if you don't believe in one just for now, please), so how do you think we can go to heaven if we are imperfect. TO ENTER INTO THE HOUSE OF THE PERFECT GOD WE IN TURN NEED TO BE PERFECT! plain and simple. but DUN DUN DUUUUUUN, we aren't. so pretend we are in a courtroom. and we are being condemned for MURDER (just one of the sins people have committed, maybe not you personally, but this is just an example). The judge is giving you life in prison (life in hell..which is what we deserve being imperfect we CANNOT at all enter heaven the way we are by ourselves OHH NO.)The only way to get out is if you can pay 100 BILLION dollars. But of course you don't have that kind of money. BUT THEN, a man comes in, quite plain looking, but his face says it all, he's so kind and gentle and his eyes look like there is love and JOY JOY JOY! he says, let me pay the fine, I have the money and I am willing to lay it all down for you! HERE IS THE MONEY! TAKE THE MONEY!!!! ARE YOU GOING TO TAKE IT!!!?????? I took it. Now I am free. I'm not locked down in jail feeling all these burdens but I feel free and this man who I didn't know even existed now suddenly has paid for my sins (in cash or...on a cross) and all YOU have to do is ask for that money and he will give it to you!!

You want to know how I know God is real? Do you want to know how to find out if he is real? Just pray for him to come into your heart and ask for forgiveness because he didn't need to save you. You could be in prison. You might be in prison. But God does miracles, and can get you out when you ask and when you believe! BELIEVE FIRST AND ASK FIRST! and then, you will see. you will know he is real. It is literally something that happens inside of you that changes, your spirit.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT FORMALIZED RELIGION!!! WHEN THERE IS A CRISIS JESUS IS WHAT YOU NEED NOT RELIGION! This is not about going to church, it's about experiencing JOY and love beyond compare! This is about God loving you SO MUCH and every time he tries to speak...it sounds like a foreign language. Sometimes we don't hear it at all because sometimes even I ignore God and when I do I DON'T HEAR HIM, DUH! LISTEN AND OPEN YOUR HEART! AND HE WILL SPEAK TO YOU AND YOU WILL KNOW THAT HE IS REAL! AND THAT HE LOVES YOU : )

He loves you!

A male reader, NITRAM BLUE Philippines +, writes (11 February 2009):

NITRAM BLUE agony auntLet us say, you saw a house in the middle of the desert

What comes into mind?

Someone must have built that house, right?

And it is impossible for some unexplained random accident, natural phenomena or the forces of nature to put together the steel beams, rivets, concrete and polished tiled floors in a structural order, am I correct?

There has to be someone or something, who built the house in the middle of the desert

If nobody comes forward to claim responsibility for building the house, it does not mean the builder did not exist

If somebody falsely said this guy built it, it does not mean nobody built it.

And lastly, if nobody saw somebody built it, it does not mean nobody built it.

Now look at the myriad orderly patterns of the physical world

Wouldn’t it be strange that some orderly composition was made by some random accident?

Would a random accident only create chaos rather than an organized arrangement?

The organized arrangement, we studied in science – the methodical atomic structure and so forth.

If the scientist can create life from an inorganic material, then random accident theory becomes a postulate of creation. Only a life can create and re-create life. If many billion of years ago, there was nobody around, life and the world - as we know it would not even have left the ground.

There is a God alright but who is he is another question.

A female reader, HonningKanin Norway +, writes (23 January 2009):

HonningKanin agony auntI dont believe in a diety as there is no proof of anything like that. When someone says God I cant help but think of the myriad of Gods and Goddesses that have riddled the history of Humanity. All of them with people who had had experiences they attributed to their god(s)/goddess(s). So when some one says God ask them to be specific so I can answer more specifically as to why I dont believe in their god.

For me a personal experince would still not be enough because it is subjective. Anything I experience personally cannot be 100% proven to be the same experience the person next to me is experiencing. I would need a repeatable, testable occurance for me to believe something. I dont take anything on faith because faith would require blind belief and when you are blind you tend to bump into things and it can be very messy and dangerous. Faith is when you dont have any evidence for anything and you believe dispite the fact. That is just not for me. I reserve the default position of "if you have no proof, I have no reason to believe it." If they dont have proof all they have is a claim and I reserve the right to be skeptical of any claim. Especially of one so extrodinary as gods and an afterlife.

I like to live in the real world and deal with real things and real person does not live "if"s. They live with a series of "are"s and "is"s. Anything else is irelavant.

As to what do I think of people who believe in Gods and so on, they are entitled to what ever fantasies comfort them as long as it does not harm others. By harm I mean praying over your child instead of taking them to the doctors or killing people because they dont share your faith so on and so forth. I just cant believe without evidence and if there really was a divine being who cared about me and wanted me to know they existed, infact the whole world, I would think they would know exactly what they should do to convince us.

NITRAM BLUE agony auntI believe in God because the world is real. A house cannot exist if nobody put them there. Much more the galaxies of the universe and other universes would not be there if nobody put them there. The Big Bang Theory (its still a theory, not a postulate) would not happen if somebody did not create matter, antimatter and plasma. Living and seeing His creations, is a miracle by itself.

If everything happened by some random accident, then why do we have an intricate pattern of life or an orderly law of physics. If it were some cosmic accident, how did the Big Bang Theory created life from the microscopic bacteria, the towering sequioa, the gigantic blue whale, the miniscule ant and the thinking homo sapiens - if everything happened by one accident the Big Bang?

Believe it or not, there is somebody up there - He is God.

I've been a believer since 8 (now 40). I will try to be to the point. I was raised in a christian home, so I didn't question my faith until adulthood. I've always thought God was my hero, and people or myself were to blame for my problems. Still do. My childhood was great, but experienced abuse as an adult, and it really put my faith to the test. I held on to the promise that He never gives us what we can't handle and realized Life is not a fairy princess movie, but LIFE. A journey of experiences and relationships, and the Love we feel or give away.

As some people can not grasp there is a God, I can not grasp there isn't. For instance, I believe there is a spiritual world and a battle for your soul. Excuse me for talking Christianese (joke for Christian talk), but isn't the world acknowledging ghosts/spirits as real? What about people with paranormal experiences? My thoughts are if people can accept there are good and evil spirts, then they maybe they need to deepen their search for truth.

a_decent_1 agony auntYou know what gives rise to God and Religion..? Questions like -

What's the energy that makes our Body, Brain and Heart work..?

Why does a man die..? He has the same blood, breat, heart etc. Then why does he turn old and die..?

What is missing in the human body after death.? The Heart is there, the brain, eyes blood.. everything is there. Everything required for a man to live is there. Then why can't he move, talk or walk after death..?

What happens after death..?

Where do our thoughts go after death.? Our body dies, but do our thoughts also die with it..?

Where were we before we were born..? Are we just a Sperm that fertilized the egg..?

What came before..? Egg or Chicken..?

Questions that Science is nt able to answer. I AGREE that Religion gives answers that are not Witnessed by anyone of us. That is why i say I believe in a Power that makes us run.. Not a tangible thing.. But an intangible Power.. !!

"The universe is defined as everything that physically exists: the entirety of space and time, all forms of matter, energy and momentum"

I believe the universe has always been here, I believe in the big bang theory, I believe that the universe in contracting and getting smaller, just like the scientist explain. For me, everything has always been here, and always will be here, no need for a creator at all. Things just change shape and take different form. A useful belief for those who want to include God, this allows people who believe that God exists in everything and everything is God, to also except science and the universe, as not only one of his miracles, but actually a reflection of what God is.. But that only works for people who think God is imminent. More difficult if you think God is outside the universe and watches over it and gets things to work.

I actually agree that science CANNOT define those emotions and things in really picky detail however, science is there to evolve, just like religion is. I believe one day that science could explain anything however, we don't know anything else. I doubt we could ever find out how the Universe started. The machine was there to split up molecules, fuse them together or whatever and to try and recreate it. I don't believe the big band works, I don't believe religion works. But its peoples beliefs and theories that will carry on after generations that will shape this.

I don't think the Romans in Pompeii would agree with a big band theory. It evolves gradually.

Good topic question I'm getting into this.

To me, God is a living, perfected being, made of glorified flesh and bone, he is our Heavenly Father. He is Law. He governs by law as he is a Just and Loving Father. He is the same Father in Adams time, to our time, and into the eternities.

He wants all of his children to be happy and knows they must have the gift of free agency, the power to chose for themselves how they will live their lives, and what they will believe in.

He waits for those to return home and misses us.

He will make known his presence, his love through others, and on his time line. Not man's.

Many struggle with this last statement, if not the previous.

I believed, and as I lived, my belief has become knowledge.

We all evolve as life is about growth. When we stagnate or revert back to old ways, old habits, we are unhappy. When we stop growing, we are not happy. We need change, we need trials, we need to grow in spirit and in body and mind.***

I find that absolutely beautiful.

My own beliefs are more in sync with the gnostic, who believed in the need for spiritual knowledge. They believed in one God as the source of everything. I also believe that most humans worship the same God, regardless of what they call him.

I could go on but I won't. I feel religion and faith is very personal.

How come I still believe? Because I feel it.

Actually decent has raised an important issue about belief in God... There could be a compromise, science can explain why I laugh or cry, but it can't make me laugh or cry. Science can explain what happens when I fall in love, but it can't make me love, and it can't give me reasons on why I should die for love. Religion and belief in God dose these things, it can create deep love, deep passions and a deep sense of faith and conviction. As I said, God lies outside of the Universe, but if you believe in God and Science, then there should by no contradictions. The atheist cannot experience god, because she/he has never felt him, the christian or other religious believer can not deny the presence of god because they feel him (god) at work most of the time. This is a case of belief and personal experience, you may have met god, but the atheist has not. Why bother to convince somebody too whom God is invisible that you are telling the truth and he really exists... It's difficult for the two sides to come together, because they are talking about different things.

Science can explain how we cry, how we think, and how we laugh, but no, scientist can't explain how to make us laugh, or why a joke is funny. But of course scientist are working on that too.. That's the problem of scientists, they take all the fun out of life, jokes will no longer be funny, once scientists explain how they work.

Research on crying, laughing, and being happy are currently undertaken by psychologists, and neuroscientist at the moment. They no longer wait until your dead to cut of your head and see into the brain. But they uses CAT scans and brain imaging systems to look at what happens when people laugh, what causes them to laugh, what happens in the brain and what neural networks link up. So yes, they are working hard at looking at thoughts and emotions.

XxAnGelXxx agony auntLol dioven, just typical that the machine broke down huh? I really am rather looking forward to the outcome of the findings of the experiment once completely successfully though. And deary, yes, it may be a troublesome topic, but, I like to think little debates about the sensitive things would possibly get people to see things outside of their box, if you know what I mean? And thinking outside the box has never been a bad thing :) plus, talking openly about these things where others can air their opinion may just reduce the amount of people who go round here saying that you must believe in this and that and vice versa, cos that's really what causes arguements on here. And I think many would agree :)

Not meaning to cause any offence by the way, but humans want answers to everything, even going back so far in time, people still questioned everything as they do these days, so Who's to say that this isn't just a story that got out, someone attempting to answer a question which no one knew the answer to? It's just like saying to someone that you're a millionaire, and renting a porsche for a day. But thats not how it is, I dont worship the devil, its the heavy music I like :) anyways, I dont just not believe in religion or god just for the sake of it, I have had an extremely hard, horrific life, i've tried speaking to god, believeing, and having faith in him, the countless times i've prayed to him, pleaded when I was just a little kid, and nothing, my life just kept getting worse, to be continued...

XxAnGelXxx agony aunta_decent_1, what is science? science is a logical, and proven reason for almost everything. science can define emotion, how else would we know about it? how else would psychologists be able to understand it? it's all in the mind, the brain, which has been studied for many years by scientist, and those scientists have changed the world with their knowledge of science. i think science has answed a lot more questions about life than any religous book has. recently an experiment took place, with the idea to recreate the whole big bang thing, to prove that, that is how the world and everything was created, but unfoutunately the machine broke down, and thats actually the last i heard about it, i aint sure whether it was continued with or not, but speaking of which i may look it up in a bit. what gets me is the whole concept about god creating the world in 6 periods of time, there wasn't anyone there to document that, so how does anyone know for sure that, that is what happened? to be continued..

Science cannot even define an emotion.. Can science define the human mind.? Can science define what's beyond the universe.? Can science define what happens after death.?

Decent, the answer to all of your questions are yes science can explain these things and more, all except for what is beyond the universe.

"The universe is defined as everything that physically exists: the entirety of space and time, all forms of matter, energy and momentum... " wikipedia.

What lies outside this definition is beyond the reach of science and lies within the realms of faith. Science has a long, long history, of research, and many explanations for the things you have pointed out. Science is constantly reviewing and correcting all existing knowledge, and on the basis of new evidence that is brought to light. If science can't explain something today, it will try it's hardest to find a way to explain it tomorrow. (see the story of Copernicus and Newton for a good example of this) Technical change, new information means what we know about the Universe and existence is growing every second of the day. Those who ask for science to "give them proof of evolution", should first "give me proof of God or Gods." Difficult to provide evidence for something that lies outside of space, time and physical matter. Evolution lies within the physical world of space and time, so it is available for further study. Gods lie is the realm beyond what can be studied.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (1 January 2009):

I'm an atheist but accept other peoples beliefs. My mum always told me "Your pretty sad if you don't believe in something, what faith do you have? What keeps you going through the day?" That might explain why I went incredibly depressed but even after having been dragged to church for the first 11 years of my life I still never really believed in it.

Most people are agnostic, particularly teenagers. They are agnostic because they don't really believe in God, but they don't really know. Possibly because they don't believe we could ever know.

What gets me is why did different religions turn up at different places. You had the Hindus in India, the Buddists in China, the Shinto religon in Japan, the aboriginals in Australia, and Catholism and Jewish religions in Europe. All these huge land masses, and they are all spread out. And they mixed. Obviously Islam was in the mix, but as technology improved and people travelled more, so did relgion. But because Australia wasn't reached until the 1800's, it would explain how their religion is so different from ours. The Indians in America had their own religion before they were wiped out. And the tribes in Brazil?

I can understand the logic in a God making people suffer - decreasing population, making people appreciate life more and learn lessons i.e. the way everything happens for a reason. On the one hand, us even being alive is just so miriaculous, that I don't believe that we have the right answers yet. I don't believe the Scientific theory is right. For hundreds of years we thought the Earth was flat, and the Earth revolved around everything. That was proved wrong.

I think in time, as they have, religions will evolve. The Greek and Roman Gods, Zeus and his crew. They were proved wrong now? No one believes in them now? Because they have adapted.

I think people need a reason to believe in something, and every individual has their own beliefs. I'm in a heavily religious family, but I believe that there is no God, and eventually, religion will be wiped out.

I'm an atheist.. I don't need no Gods. I used to be religious and I have a christian background. But the question of suffering, natural and man made, lead me eventually to reject the ideas of gods as nonsense. I then set out on a lifelong search to find beliefs that are more suitable and sensible for me.

The problem with questions about God is that it usually turns into an argument and people get offended and very upset, when they hear different views that are not acceptable to them. Since we are coming to a new year, and I wish us all to spread peace, love and joy all around the world. All I can say to the original poster is "curiosity killed the cat". Differences in religious beliefs often lead to arguments.

Honey, just live your young life and ignore the whole religion bit. The trouble with god botherers is that they are not content to live the life they choose but will try to inflict their views on other people including their own children.

Religion is a way of controlling people and there is no such thing as a poor religion. They are all very wealthy whilst their followers struggle.

According to the Christians, life only started 2000 or so years ago yet science and fossils prove that life existed millions of years ago. The Muslims are as bad. Bibles, Korans or whatever book they quote were all written by men not god or whomever. Don't ruin you life with these guilt trips.

A female reader, katatonik United States +, writes (31 December 2008):

katatonik agony auntI was brought up in the Lutheran church. I do not believe in God. I tried as a child and have tried since as an adult, but simple reason will not allow me to suspend enough disbelief to accept without question a text that dates back to the Bronze Age and is no longer consistent with the conclusions at which science and tested hypotheses have arrived. I believe that once people begin to pick and choose from the Bible (i.e. it is no longer acceptable to sell one's sister or stone people to death) the credibility of the entire text is called into question. I suppose it is possible that a higher being exists, but God as Christians know It does not.

I have nothing against those who do believe, unless they try to push their beliefs on me as so many have in the past. I am not open about my beliefs in my daily life and will only discuss them if provoked, and have never appreciated others approaching me to demand that I share in their views. I've always felt that they are trying to convince themselves, as much as me, of the truth of what they are saying.

I hope no one takes offense to this. It's just my opinion.

xxbecksyxx agony auntI do and I don't.

I'll explain. I do believe in God because I think he controls what we do and when we do it. For example, I believe that when we are born, our whole life is set out for us. That way, we get a balance of good times and bad times. That way, we have a soul mate who is destined to be with us for the rest of our lives. I don't believe in sins.

But then again, I don't believe in God because of all the bad things happening. Incurable diseases, war, poverty, global warming, extreme weather, racism.. but to name a few. It may be down to the Devil.

I believe the Earth was created by science, but there is a spirit of some sort that guides us through life.

God is a loving god that cares about and loves you very much. I don't know what you've been through, but he's there waiting for you just to ask. Be sincere and then just believe!!!

Hey buddy.. You said you don't believe in God because if there is God then why do we have Rapes, murders, terrorism etc. Right.? But my friend if a person believes in God, he believes in Devil as well..

I've read that today's world is effected by devil. God made human beings with a very good motive but we got greedy.. We made the devil rule us.. There is a LONG STORY about it in the Indian Culture..

a_decent_1 agony auntTo Metalman.

Please don't get offended but please never say that you don't believe in GOD because you believe in science.. What is science.? Science cannot even define an emotion.. Can science define the human mind.? Can science define what's beyond the universe.? Can science define what happens after death.?

If you take a Scientific approach to say there is no GOD because there is no proof.. Then mate i'd say there are no emotions because science cannot define it.

There are things beyond science.. There are things beyond human beings.. Science says there was a BIG BANG that created us.. What's the proof.?

lilly123 agony auntYou no me an my brother were talking about this the other day and we just went round in circles. I dont believe in god i dont belive he made us and this world because if he did why is he letting it be destroyed. why does he let all the killers and rapist do what they do, to put somone and the people around them that he created through all that pain and suffering and let good inicent people die everyday. And if being a good christian is about forgivness and kindness to all then why is being gay such a bad thing or a sin. But then you have to think about were everything did come from i believe evolution but nobody no'sanswer! i think its great for the people that do believe there is a god cos it must be nice to believe in somthing, or in a time of need to have faith everything will work out how it should.

MetalMan agony aunti dont believe in god because i hold a very scientific outlook in that i believe that for something to be accepted as truth it must first be proved beyond reasonable doubt (yay for cynicism) and i find that there is no tangeable proof of some sort of all powerfull being that controls everything and made the universe. i do not begrude people thier faith and understand why they take comfort in "knowlage" of a greater power. and fully support those who can explain why they bevieve in something in a reasoned and comprehensive way. but poeple who, when thier faith is questioned by somebody or are asked to explain why they believe cannot come up with a logical and reasonable awnser (and can often be rude and insulting as if discrediting me makes them make more sense in my exprienece) i think do not freely believe in it but have been indoctronated. the few last things i want to say is that, the saying "god helps those who help themselves" makes no sense to me at all because surely if you sucseed then it is due to you helping yourself not anything to do with god (allthough i applaud a_decent_1's explnation of his faith and philosophy). but bubbloo24's i was brought up with it then lost faith then had a great feeling when a load of people prayed for me is throughly unconvincing to me, if for example a room full of your friends sung happy bitrhday to you i'm sure you'd have a similar feeling of being special, i would imagine that it was more to do with your mind applying a physical sensation to a feeling of importance, i am sorry to have to be so cynical of your experiences.

i have a much expirence with christianity in england but have little to no experience with religion outside that so everything i have said can only be applyed to that otherwise i may be hypocritical in genralising people without proof

A female reader, Serenity1 United States +, writes (31 December 2008):

Serenity1 agony auntyes, i do believe in God. i wasn't raised in church but was introduced to God as an adult. He is real. He's not human but He's a Spirit and he died on the cross for me and you.

i ran to God when i was at a rough point in my life. i was 22 didn't have any where to go. my mom (who was an athiest) put me out and said i was grown and needed to take care of myself. it was the middle of winter and i had no where to turn. i rode past a church and parked in the parking lot. i prayed and begun to connect with the living God. you see i had no where to run but to God. i said to myself if you are real i need you now.

God reveals his self to us in many different ways. one would probably think that He would just appear and start talking but that very seldom happens.

overall, i believe in Lord Jesus Christ because He has revealed His self to me. the only way He will reveal His self to anyone is if they believe HE IS. john 3:16 in the bible says "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

A female reader, bubbloo24 Isle of Man +, writes (31 December 2008):

bubbloo24 agony auntI was brought up to be a Christian in my family. I still believe in God because I do believe that there is comfort in times of grief that comes from beyond this world.

A few years ago, I was a very strong Christian. I didn't swear, I didn't drink and I didn't even consider sex. My faith was unbreakable at this point. But then when faced with the death of a family member, the break up of my first strong relationship and then after that, an abusive relationship, I started drinking and turning away from my faith.

However, I was asked to go to a Christian meeting and ended up going to a Teenager Christian group worship service once and the person who was holding it said to us is there anyone out there who wants to come forward and renew their faith and become new in Christ? And I felt inside me that God was calling me to do it. I was nervous but I came up to the front and they laid their hands on me and prayed for me and it was, spiritually, an amazing feeling.

Even though I have had pre-marital sex and I drink, it hasn't changed my faith in God. I still believe he's there watching over all of us and loves us and I do believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins. It may not be everyone's belief but I'm not prepared to let go of it because of another person's thoughts towards to me.

I believe everyone has the right to think what they want and those people who don't believe in God, I have no problem with. Everyone has their own rights to decide how to live their own life, whether it be God's way, or their own but I do think that God watches over them and loves them none the less if they do not believe.

a_decent_1 agony auntWell,

I am a believer that "God helps those, who help themselves" and "Ask God's blessings for your work, but dont expect him to do it" .. !!!

I believe in an Almighty Power that created us all.. !!

I'll open a secret here.. I did not believe in God. I did all the prayers and stuff just because my Family did it. Then one day, I fell in love. I fell in love with a girl that would have Never accepted me. .!! She was too nice to be true. She turned down the BEST of the BEST guys because she loved her family a lot and wanted to marry where they decided.

I proposed to her and she turned it down as expected. I could not get over her. She was Life to me. It was my first Crush/Love/Relation. I started to go to a Dargah ( a religious place for muslims) ( i am a Hindu). I used to walk 1 km bare foot every thursday. I kept fasts.. Made offerings. I prayed for her. My prayers weren't rejected.. !! She accepted me. !! Trust me, It wasn't just possible.. !! EVERYONE told me EVERYDAY that she wont say yes. But she did... !!

Now, I can say that GOD did it. But at the same time, i mad efforts. I showed her how much i loved and cared for her...!! So, what would you say? Was it because of my efforts or GOD..? Here is the Moral of the story.. !!

GOD is an Almighty Power who is Nothing but an inspiration.. !! The insperation and belief i got when i went to Dargah made me believe i can get that girl.. !!

We are in deep true love now for the last 2 years..!! We have a billion hurdles in our path but we know we will overcome them and marry.. ;)

GOD is What we make it into.. God is Great.. !! lmighty.. Not a Human being like you and me, but a power.. !!

G'day
