reader, anonymous, writes (18 June 2008): Well i shave it bc i feel cleaner, and my bf doesnt mind either way. but if hes making you do this and you dont want to, then he doesnt deserve you. he should like you just the way you are. besides you're young, im sure there are plenty of guys that like it unshaved. but if you do shave it be very careful not to cut yourself, that hurts.

Shaving is extremely uncomfortable - you are at risk of getting nasty ingrown hairs, it itches like hell, and you're in danger of getting a cut somewhere unpleasant.
Bikini wax is the answer here - keeps the area neat and tidy, which is good for when you're going swimming, too. Of course, you don't have to do that either. Ask your boyfriend to have a wax in his genital area before you shave or wax, and he'll soon go off the idea.
We have pubic hair for a reason. It grows when we hit puberty; only prepubescents have no hair around their vaginas. Why would your boyfriend want you to look like a child or a porn actress?

Nowadays i just trim it with nail scissors and keep it tidy, to be honest, any boy around your age, if he sees you naked, probably won't notice how much hair you have, as long as it isn't really really long!

Men like a lot of different things, it's personal preference, so you do what you feel like. However, if you don't want to shave, keeping it trimmed could be a good option. This way you don't need to shave, but it's not a natural forest either!

reader, anonymous, writes (15 June 2008): I shave because I like it. However, I have actually asked my bf about this, and he says he wouldn't mind if I didn't shave (so long as I kept it 'trimmed', but that's just the way he feels, he's not a representative of the entire male population).
Frankly, it's up to you. If you don't like shaving it, then don't - you could try just trimming the hair, it's very easy to do, and just tidies it up a bit.

 Men have a variety of tastes and preferences. Do what makes you comfortable and happy, I cannot imagine a man being so picky as to turn down a woman because her pubic hair wasn't kept in a specific way. Keep it clean and inviting (i.e. no bits of toilet paper or uncomfortable stubble) and he'll be fine with it. Don't shave it if you don't want to. If he's around your age, I bet he'd be so happy to be getting some that he won't even notice if it's hairy or not.
P.s. Practice safe sex! Condoms and birth control pills (and other similar things) are your friends.

 my boyfriend was much the same and still is. he likes it shaved but it took him a while to tell me and ask me to coz he didnt want to hurt my feelings..i used to hate shaving but i got used to it..i dont like having hair there anymore. If u dont like shaving u can try using hair removal cream if u have time to wait but just make sure u dont get it on ur lips coz it burns. and if u want u could go and get a wax but i never have had the guts to do that so i couldnt give u any advice there...if u still dont like the feeling then maybe just trim tell him why u wont shave and he should undestand. if worst comes to worse tell him that u will shave if he shaves....maybe then he will understand lol. ithcyness!

Do what you are ok with doing. However shaving is a huge trend now. Everyone likes that area shaved. Guys expect it and so do girls. If you are ok with shaving do it, but dont get upset if your guy gets turned off by hair it is what is expected now. It would be like expecting him to be hairy and finding him shaved it would throw you off a bit. He might grow to like the hair then again he might keep begging you to shave.

reader, anonymous, writes (15 June 2008): sorry if i sound like a broken record, but dont do anyhthing you dont wanna do. personally im not crazy bout the whole shaving theng, i mean that hair is down there to protect our bits and keep it clean, and i think its good to keep it trimmed around the edges or whatever, but i mean fully shaved is kinda weird and i mean only little girls like 9 year olds have no pubes! i mean do u want ur vag to look like a 9 year olds? lol anyways, good luck, its your body and do what you think is best for yyourself.
