There is a major difference between being bright and being able to perform under pressure, I think this was what your professor was concerned with, he was not insulting your intelligence. I can't imagine the pressures most doctors feel when it comes to making split second decisions that could result in life or death. Your confidence about your own competency is something you should work on now, maybe ask this teacher for suggestions. The fact that this constructive criticism is "killing you deep inside" does little to contribute to a "team" so you have to turn this into a challenge, you will be entering a challenging profession, instead of taking feedback so personally. In my profession, sales, we are constantly told we are not "good enough" and that we may not have "what it takes" and those who can't meet the challenge and take that personally, fail. It is not a question of your intelligence and I don't think this is why you forgot the basics- you were buckling under pressure. Instead of marinating in your failure, we all have them, visualize yourself being very confident and picture yourself acing it. You have already proven you have what it takes intellectually, now you just need to believe in it and trust it!

Your teacher was probably just trying to scare you into working harder. If you work hard, as you say you do, then you'll pass fine. Show your teacher they are wrong! xxx

He didn't tell you that you ARE going to fail, he told you that if you repeat that performance and leave out the basics again that you will fail.
He told you to give you a kick up the arse.
Hit the books, make a list of everything basic you need to say in orals and keep repeating it to yourself.
It sounds like you just get flustered when you are on the spot in oral exams, which is something you can get over.
Go and see your professor and ask him if he could give you another practice go. Then take a deep breath and stop panicking. Think about the question and then give your answer logically, don't just say the first thing in your head. Start with the basics and move up from there.
If you are a panicky person then find out about yoga and relaxation. Find out if you can count backwards from 5 to calm yourself down.
I am sure you will be fine, don't let this little thing beat you, fight back!!
Good Luck!! xx

you sound like your letting your nerves get the better of you.you need to learn to relax, try deap breaths.
if you have no problem with your written exam then im sure you'll do fine in your oral exam.
dont let the teachers comments bother you so much (teachers aren't always right)
if you dont pass your exam its not the end of the world you can try again.
think positive!
