My gf (she's 22 years old) some times she still sleeps with her mother when her father is at work on the night shift. She is not the only daughter but she only does sleep with her mum, I find it kinda weird ?How do you view it?

Thanks

A female reader, anonymous, writes (28 January 2010):

My daughter is 25 and still wants to sleep with me when she comes home...it's a comfort thing. Now my boys are another story, the only time one of my sons has ever slept with me as an adult was when my youngest was 22 and had some serious health issues that scared the be-jesus out of all of us...and even then, it was just one night.

Mother's nurture their children, that's all there is to it and my children will always be my babies in my eyes. They are welcome in my bed anytime, it does not make me feel strange in any way.

normal in close families. my daughters love to come and lay on my bed and chatter and i love for them too. On occasion when their dad is going to be gone they will ask if they can sleep in with me. i usually say no because they sleep wild (hahaha) and i also enjoy the alone time...but i enjoy the closeness of them coming in. i think its definitely a girl thing. just one of life's little mysteries like why girls can go to the restroom in twos and threes...and guys think its weird....guys cant ask for directions and it annoys girls....some things just cant be totally explained. good luck, mal

You may find the thought disturbing because of the porn `mother & daughter` acts. But mind out of the gutter! Because in the real world its fine for a daughter to sleep beside her mum sometimes. Im a mum with a 22 year old daughter and to me she is and always will be my baby. She sleeps in my bed sometimes if shes staying and im alone. Its perfectly normal. Its a mother and child thing x

Dr.LanceMerryweather agony auntIt's not so much weird as there could be problems for you further down the line, inasmuch as, she's possibly never gonna let go the apron strings - especially if you have a notion about making things permanent with her. Best avoided, in my experience.

Not My Name agony auntNope, not weird at all.

I moved out of home at 17, but up until then I often used to go and sleep in my mum's bed. I simply liked her mattress better :-)

sarcy24 agony auntI used to sleep with my mum in the same bed when my father was away on business. I liked the closeness and it made me feel safe. No, I don't think it is weird or funny, lots of mothers and daughters do it.

So its just her mom its her own parents. At least she's not sleeping around with other guys. Plus her parents aren't going to be there for the rest of her life so why not enjoy being around them now before they die.

Honeypie agony auntMy mom go seriously ill when I was 26 - she nearly died twice that year. When my Dad had over night business elsewhere I would come home and sleep with my mom ( well, NEXT to my mom). I am and always have been very protective of my mom. And.. I'm 40..

I'm guessing she is the baby of the family?

I don't see anything really weird about it.
