If he went out with you for a while he must have liked you!
Its a shame you've lost touch, I bet he wants to talk to you too.
If you havent already got an email address or phone number, ask one of his friends (albeit a nice one) if they could give you it or pass on you're number.

 Why don't you contact him? Do you have a phone number or an email address? If you do, it seems like either the call or an email (and I'd do the email first, if you've got it). I think that would be nice... and even a shy guy can reply to email.
