writes:I've stopped caring about whether or not I ever have a girlfriend. I don't know if this is normal. But my question is...Is it possible to have no sex drive whatsoever? I am 31 and I've become so depressed and disappointed with my life, that I just want to be left alone. I don't really care about anything anymore. Is there anything wrong with feeling this way? Is this a major issue? Often people accuse me of being gay when I say things like this. But the bottom line is...Why should I care about having a girlfriend? Does it really matter? Is there anything wrong with wanting to stay single and be left alone?

We all feel down and depressed sometimes, and then we don't want to trust anyone, and we don't want to be touched sexually in any way. That's what I'm like...When I get depressed, I don't want to be around anyone. I spend a lot of my time alone.

 hey im sorry to hear of your sitation :( I often feel like this and i think it may be a sign of depression. Maybe if you figure out why you are feeling like this you could maybe talk to someone abt this?
As for not wanting a gf i dont see anything wrong with that. You may just be going through a time in your life when you feel you dont need one.
But i do hope you feel better soon!

No there's nothing wrong with being single many people choose to be.
However, if you're wanting to not communicate with anyone, and not caring anymore these are signs of depression. Go see your doctor before this becomes worse.

reader, anonymous, writes (10 June 2010): Ussually depression is accompanied by low or no sex drive, so there is nothing unussual here. There is nothing wrong w being single, why do u care what other people say. they have their own problems that they need to deal with.
Another issue here is that u need to deal w your depression at one point. May be right now you need time alone, but don't stay in this state for a very long time.
Depression is not a safe place to be in. It causes not only mental prooblems in a future but also physical.
As for a girlfriend, don't stress about it, you are still very young, it will come....if you want.
