A male United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

so my best friend (R) has a twin sister called J and she met this guy at a mutual friends party, they kissed and thats it. since that party we spoke more and i didn't hear anything about this other guy and every time we were around each other i kept thinking she liked me by the way she acted she used to do little things like ruffle my hair up.

then when i spoke to her once she said she was going on a "date" or something similar with this guy but she called it off as it snowed, then she kept acting more and more into me, always spoke to me and and always smiling and joking kept messing with my hair and stuff. we were at this party together a few weeks ago and i kept looking at her cause i like her a lot and i always smiled at her and she smiled back, but her face seemed to light up all the time we stared at each other we danced as well and she even dragged me down the stairs twice.

i told R i liked her and he was more than ok with it. anyway we kept talking and every time we see each other she seems to smile bigger when i see her and we're always talking, we could talk forever tbh. we have a lot in common and the other day i was saying how nice she was and she kept saying that she isnt as innocent as she looked, she wouldn't give an example and she kept writing innocent like this "innocent" which spells out to me shes not a virgin which i guess everyone thinks she is cause shes a nice, kind girl.

we have an awful lot in common and now im sort of scared to talk to her on facebook when we're not in person as i don't want to be annoying, she knows i like her i have told her and all my friends now know cause 1 of them guessed the other day he said "you can tell" and id ask her out but idk whats going on with this other guy, if anything, as she was texting him at that other party even though she got upset as someone said hes a sort of player type guy and idk. R seems ok with it all its just i think she likes me and she didn't say if she did or not when i told her i like her she said "aww thats sweet :)" and then later said she didn't want to ruin what we have as im a great friend she said which i don't want to ruin that either but id never let that happen she always sends me messages with ":)" at the end and stuff and is always saying aww thank you to me i just don't know what to do atm :/

A male reader, CMMP United States +, writes (14 May 2013):

You probably blew it by waiting too long. You have to strike fast or some other guy will. You may be afraid of asking her out but if you don't how are you going to progress? Do you want her to mess your hair up, stare, and text with smiley faces until you're an old man?

It may be too late (as indicated by the "I don't want to mess up our friendship" line), but you should ask her out on a date. Nothing that could be mistaken as a friendly date, but nothing too over the top either. Don't ask her to a movie, find something more original.
