 Seven years ago I said the same thing about a girl that later became ny fiance. I told a couple buddies of mine that this certain girl in my class had a masculine feature and it was a total turnoff. Well a few weeks went by, we met accidentally at a movie theatre and we kinda hooked up from there. After a short while, I began to realize that I was falling for her. Now fast forward seven years. Last year I asked her to marry me. She said yes. We aren't together anymore for different reasons but you get the picture.
Whether or not he said that about you, it would b a big mistake to not try. You never know what the future holds. He could very well have feelngs for you that he isn't even aware of. Best of wishes and good luck.

 Well first off don't always listen to what others have to say to you, just because you heard he said this about you does not mean he did say that, so do not judge him on that until you hear it from his own mouth.
I think you just need to play it cool because you are not sure, ask him would he like to do something some weekend, whatever you are interested in, going to a movie, bowling, just hanging out whichever you would rather and see what he says.
