A female reader, haley92 United States +, writes (16 August 2009):

ok first, if your hair is really long down there trim it down with a pair clippers os trimmers. if you want to use a razor, be sure its a new razor to reduce bumps and rashes. use a soap designed for sensitive skin because genital skin is very sensitive. use warm to hot water to relax the skin and stimulate hair folicles.gently shave outer area and rinse. repeat for better results and for the inner hairs if any, use a hair remover meant for that area! do no leave it on longer than recomended! for it will burn!rinse off with warm soapy lather, once you are satisfied with the results, apply mineral oil everywhere. even if the razor did not touch a certain are of skin down there... keep everything moisturized down there!!!

A female reader, anonymous, writes (18 March 2008):

I understand because I went through that too! First off, I know we generalize about them a lot, but all guys are different. Most guys like a nice shave, but that doesn't mean you have to shave everything off. Find your own style. Sometimes I like to go for a little strip of hair leading down to the clit, but stopping just before so that you get good access.

How to shave:

-As they say, use a brand new razor for the best results!

-Make sure your area is very warm and relaxed. Use lots of hot water for at least 30 seconds to warm the hair and make the skin more elastic.

-Lather up with a good natural soap for sensitive skin, preferably something with oatmeal in it.

-Don't shave against that direction in which your hairs grow, always follow the direction of your hair to prevent razor burn.

-Start at the top and use slow, short strokes. Don't go over the same spot over and over again. Wait until you've made all the hairs a little shorter, rinse with warm water, lather, and start the process over again.

-Obviously you should be patient and take your time when you're doing this because your skin down there is sensitive and cuts can let in a lot of nasty diseases!

-When you're satisfied with your shave, rinse off any remaining soap with warm water, and then rinse again with cool water to close the pores.

-Gently pat dry.

-Use your choice of sensitive skin moisturizer. I like to buy natural products with no yucky chemicals so that my boy isn't licking toxins, and my skin is healthy.

Be SAFE!

Hey there:

I like an electric razor it gets real close and do not leave red bumps. The vibrations often gives me tingles, yummmmmmmmmm. Buy a good one. Many have grooming attachments

try using a diffrent shaving gel, and if you don't go gentle on it that will not help...try going really gentle. Also you should always put a very nice lotion on it after..not a cheap one

A female reader, anonymous, writes (18 September 2007):

i got this shave cream, i forget what it's called, thats specifically for shaving the pubic region, it's great, but a little expensive. just look around on toy sites, it would probably be there. shaving off all of your pubic hair usually makes you look prepubescent, which isn't really a turn on, but keeping it clean for what you do shave off is good, because going down on a girl when it's prickly can be painful

A female reader, anonymous, writes (28 June 2007):

First off you need to use a new razor, to get a clean shave, along with a good shave gel. There is a product called TEND SKIN, it is for ingrown hairs and razor burn, which is the red bumps your experiencing. You can usually buy this product in high end drug stores, online or at Spa's. It runs about $20. GREAT STUFF!! Burns like hell for a minute, but works. Good luck

A female reader, anonymous, writes (21 June 2007):

well, I'm younger than you. But I have noticed that using shaving cream works best. Also, let it grow out a little bit before shaving. Meaning, try not to shave everyday, no matter how much you feel you have too. *And just like every other girl, youre going to worry about what guys think, so do I sometimes, but I think you should do what you like best. I personaly think, to much hair, is a turn off for a guy. But shaving every bit of hair away; makes you seem, un-developed; I guess you could say. So, what I suggest is, shaving everywhere, but leave a bit over the lips, and just trim it down. Makes you seem clean. :] and to my experience, its a lot nicer. I hope this helped. Xo.

Dojha agony auntlike everyone else has said do it for yourself not anybody else.

Have you considered laser treatment? it's a permanet hair removal technique that lasts nearly forever so no pricklies. Downside is its expensive and you might want your hair back someday.

Not having hair down der might make you look very sexy in underwear and bikinis but if you're considering what men think, i think most of dem (not all) like some hair. Just keep it fresh and clean.

Hope this helps,

Dojha

A female reader, sad*girl United States +, writes (9 June 2007):

sad*girl agony aunthey well from my own personal experience i would suggest to use a new razor evrytime the red dots is from your skin being irritated (your vagina is a very tender spot so DONT USE USED RAZORS!)

P.S. guys like a nicely trimmed vagina it show that you like to be clean and keep up with yourself...

A female reader, spirited United States +, writes (8 June 2007):

I use hair conditioner and a new razor each time, but for the best result... get a wax. The hair will grow thinner each time and less and less will grow. But if you absolutely HAVE to, use hair conditioner... i have sensitive skin too and I don't get bumps. Also, don't shave every day, it'll irritate you even more. Let the hair grow out for a few days, let the skin heal, then shave. You'll get the hang of it. And a guy that likes you will like ALL of you. I've been there. Don't be embarrassed, just do what YOU feel is ok w/ yourself.

Good luck!!

A male reader, anonymous, writes (8 June 2007):

sorry love,

but shaving won't help you here.

if you want what guys want most, then leave it natural.

they like a challenge.

it provides a hairy curtain for their penis to enter into, this feels pleasurable for the penis and is much better than a clean shave. the experience is so much better, when clean shaven it feels all squeaky and rubbs against the penis causing friction burns. or chaffing.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (8 June 2007):

Hiya,

It is totally natural for your vagina to hurt after it's been shavin, it becomes more sensative, and the little red dots that are appearing are apsolutly normal.

To get your vagina nice and smooth, there is all different types of shaving foam that you can get, that when you shave ANYWHERE it leaves it lovely and smooth.

When you are shaving your vagina at the top it can sometimes hurt or feel sore, but that is natural too. When shaving around the lips it doesnt feel as sore, for there is more skin around that area but be very careful when doing that. To get the smooth texture use a brand new shaver NOT a blunt one, and shave in two directions up and then down.

Have you ever considered having it waxed?

Boys like the vaginal hair in all different ways such as, none, just a little bit, or quite abit but kept short and tidy, its up to you.

I prefer to have none or just a little strip, it depends.

But dont start worrying about it, everythings natural, it's just what YOU feel comfortable with.

Please keep me informed and i would be more than happy to give you more advice if needed.

Emily-jo xx

A reader, anonymous, writes (8 June 2007):

You should not do this if it makes you uncomfortable, it is not worth it. Do you want a partner who respects, cherishes and adores you? If you are trying to impress someone by shaving, it must be a pretty shallow relationship.

One man I know said it turns him off because he thinks men like it because it makes the women look like little girls should, not grown-ups and it gives him the creeps.

Making love should not feel like getting perpared for an operation, it is a moment of great intimacy and it is up to you how to approach it. Make sure you keep your own interests and needs first (ie:YOU want to do it for yourself) and don't concur just to please someone who is too shallow to love you as you are.

If you don't know what they think about this issue and you as a whole person, if you don't know how supportive they will be, you are not in a relationship that is developed enough to have sex. Unless you don't mind about that..which is your business.
