What is the best thing to do so I can change my attitude towards others.

I have a bad attitude and this is towards anyone I have tried changing it but when I was nice and respectful others took advantage and treated me very unfair.

I was bullied most of my school years so I though toughing up with my attitude that is would change but I think it has only made it worse to where no one really likes me but that is not what i am worried about its about having a good attitude I am meeting new people and they think I am a bitch which I dont think I am its just the way I speak or respond.

A lot of people I have known say I am a smart mouth but sometimes you have to talk back right?

aunt honesty agony auntYou cannot go through your life blaming what happened you at school on your attitude now. Yes being bullied is horrible and it changes a person, but you don't need to be that person, you can learn to be a better person, go to a behavioral therapist and talk to them about your issues. Not getting on with anyone in the work place, and talking to your boss with no respect will only get you fired and have no friends or no job, so please get help for your issues before it gets worse.

I have never heard of assertiveness training.. However it does sound like a good thing, Something that would help me. I am sure you are right everything people say I take as offence which makes me say other things and I am guessing it has to do with my past in school. I have tried to control my attitude but ever since I have put that everyone like before is only a target it kind of hard. You are right I should just "shrug it off."

Is it possible for you to take some assertiveness training? Learning to be assertive means that you can stand up for yourself and not be taken advantage of but still be polite and cordial and not come across as aggressive or bitchy.

And might it be possible that, because you were bullied at school, you're assuming that others are bullying you when in actual fact they aren't?

Denizen agony auntIf you know how to look after yourself that's good. You need to select your targets - those who deserve taking down a peg. Don't be a bitch to everyone. That is just your insecurity. You are like a chained dog. It barks at everything because it can't run. It has to be on the attack all the time.

You however are different. You have a choice. And is there anything now that anyone can say to hurt you? You must have heard it all? Shrug it off. Save your best for the one who really deserves it.
