Question - (14 September 2008) 1 Answers - (Newest, 14 September 2008)
A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Okay I'm bi and there's this boy I like. We're pretty good friends, and I know he likes me. My mom has no problem with it, but his mom and his sister do. Another problem is there's a bit of an age difference between me and him. I'm 16 and he's 13.

I really like him, but his mom scares me and also people might think weirdly because of our age difference.

I don't know what to do- please help!

A male reader, saltwater United Kingdom +, writes (14 September 2008):

saltwater agony auntYou have to back off here.

You can understand his mum and sister freaking out can't you? He's only 13 and I'm pretty sure that they can't believe he is gay at such a young age.

At 16 they may be able to accept it; but if I had a 13 year old kid I wouldn't like them to have decided that they should be seeing members of the same sex -- not because I'm homophobic...but because he is still a child who has barely just started puberty...and so he is not aware of his own feelings.

You're right, people will think weirdly about the age difference.

I suggest you either wait a few years...or you find someone your age to have a relationship with.

Take care.
