He seems unfazed by our break up. Why can't he accept that I've broken up with him?

My boyfriend seems unfazed by our break up.

It has been a little over a month now and he has been sending me texts every now and then and I have just been ignoring him. He sent me a text today and we ended up chatting on yahoo messenger. I never really gave him a full explanation as to why I left him although he had a pretty good idea.

I decided to lay it all out for him today and basically said I just did not want to be together because I am not happy with him. He just said "I see..." and continued to have normal conversation with me. It's like his ego is so freaking big and that he thinks he is so special and no one can up and leave him.

He thinks he is so good and he is not.

At the end of our conversation he told me he loved me and I said nothing. Why won't he accept our break up, and how can I make him accept it? I have said it firmly and have basically layed down the law that we are done.

The way he talks to me just seems like he still has hope for us or thinks I am not being serious about this.

A male reader, no nonsense Aidan United Kingdom +, writes (20 January 2013):

Stop messaging him altogether, cut contact. If he’s not taking what you’re saying seriously, it’s the kindest thing for him to stop replying to his messages and engaging in these messaging conversations. Whether it’s arrogance and a belief that you’ll come back eventually, or he’s struggling to accept it, this is the best thing you can do. Whatever the reason for this behaviour, he’ll take the hint eventually.

I wish you all the very best.

Her awesomeness agony auntI think the best thing to do is to stop texting him

even if he sends you 100 messages per minute do not text him back

talking to your ex after a break up brings up old feelings and i guess thats why he wont leave you alone because you seem to be opening a certain window of hope by replying to his messages...

Hope this helps! :)
