A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I know this is a relationship website, but I am getting a quote painted on my wall above the mirror, I want it to be something that when I wake up and look at everyday, I feel inspired by it! Something about either, life, success, our future, chances, that kind of thing. Yet, I can't think of any quotes or sayings that I would want there. I have many I love, but none I really felt were amazing enough...

Has anyone got any that they live by, or feel inspired by that maybe they wouldn't mind sharing?

Anonymous 123 agony auntOh this is a great question!

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by every moment that takes your breath away."

"Accept everything about yourself--I mean everything. You are you and that is the beginning and the end--no apologies, no regrets." ~ Henry Kissinger

I sent my soul through the invisible,

some letter of that afterlife to spell;

and by and by my soul returned

and answered,

" myself am Heaven and Hell"

"For you, a thousand times over....".....The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.

"… I wondered if that was how forgiveness budded, not with the fanfare of epiphany, but with pain gathering with it things, packing up, and slipping away unannounced in the middle of the night." ...........The Kite Runner ... Khaled Hosseini.

And the best one:

A female reader, TasteofIndia United States +, writes (21 November 2011):

TasteofIndia agony aunt"If I don't have red, I use blue." I'm pretty sure Picasso said that. That quote helps me roll with the punches and keep an easy going attitude. Surrounding my mirror, I have "The hood does not make the monk." from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. I like to remind myself that it's not the clothes, makeup, jewelry, it's not all that superficial stuff that is going to make me who I am. It's (cliché attack) who I am on the inside that is really going to count at the end of the day.

Those, are at least my two go to quotes. I like 'em!

A male reader, Odds United States +, writes (21 November 2011):

Odds agony auntI got a few. Not sure what you're looking for; they're less about "inspiration" than they are about "sticktoitiveness," but they work for me. I've always found that more traditional "inspirational" quotes lose their luster and seem more vapid the tenth time you read them; these and others like them, on the other hand, have informed my thinking for years.

"Because awkwardness, at its core, is all about believing that everyone else knows exactly how to navigate a social situation, and you're the only one who hasn't figured it out yet." – Daniel O’Brien

"Instincts have consequences, particularly when the circumstances requiring them cease to exist." - Fred

"If you're not perfect, we have something in common." - Source unknown

"A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." - John Stewart Mill

"Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh." - George Bernard Shaw

A female reader, basketball23 United States +, writes (21 November 2011):

It's not a quote, it's a bible verse, Isaiah 40:31

"but those who hope in the lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, the will walk and not be faint."

I have a tattoo on the back of my neck that is a cross with strength going through the center with isaiah 40:31 underneath of it. This verse gives me so much strength. Everytime I pull my hair up I touch the back of my neck and feel the strength to keep going. Ofcourse if you are not religious or do not believe in god this paragraph was a huge waist of time.

I don't have a specific quote that I look up to. Instead, I have a small book of proverbs and sayings beside my bed. I open it to a random page every day, and take its advice. I figure it's as good as any other thing to lead an interesting life.
