So me and my boyfriend of two years couldn't get alone better. We have so much in common and being together is when we were at our happiest. Now, this was online dating but we had been good friends before he asked me. He lives about two hours away, and we were going to start meeting up once we got out of high school and go from there. Both of us are 17 by the way, his birthday was just on the 2nd and I'll be 18 in September. But in the last few months, something has changed in him.

Back in November he broke up with me saying that the distance is to much for him. That he still likes me and will still keep me in mind later when we do establish a friendship in real life. This really hurt me, since I love him deeply but I agreed to do so reluctantly. Then, at the end of January, he says he wants to get back together with me. I was over joyed and took him back without a second thought and we were happy again.

Then, literally two days later, he says he needs another 'break'. Not an official one, he just says he had rushed into it to soon and needs some space and we weren't completely broken up. So we went on for about a week this way, only talking as friends. Then he asks me out yet again, and I thought that this would be it. That he's had his time to think and we'll stay together. By then it was February, but he seemed a bit put out. He didn't even say Happy Valentines day to me and barely showed an reaction to our 2 year anniversary on the 17th. I didn't think much of this, but on the 19th two days later he breaks up yet again.

This time, he says he only sees me as a friend. He still cares about me deeply but only as a best friend. Now, I had gone through a lot of pain in the last few months because of things like this so obviously I was very confused and hurt. Every time he breaks up with me he couldn't be nicer, offering me support, that he would be there, still wanting to remain best friends, even scared that I would commit suicide.

Someone PLEASE me...even after all of this I still love him so much and want him back. Right now we are not talking, me hoping that maybe this is all he needs to work out whatever doubts he has but I just don't know anymore. We talk a lot every day so this is hard for us, but I thought it would be for the best. He told me that he is just sick of love, so could he really only just need a break like I think? Or has he really lost feelings for me? What should I do...?

Thank you for the feedback. I guess I forgot to mention that we would usually talk over the phone or skype a lot more then through text or messengers. We still plan to meet when we get out of high school, since we are still really good friends. He lives in NYC and I live in Berksire County Mass, not very far at all since I'm always in and out of New York state. I know for a fact there is no one else he is interested in, I know some of his other friends as well and he is just sick of relationships right now.

So who knows, maybe things will change in a few years time but for now I'll move on. Thanks again, and no need to feel sorry for any harshness lol

dirtball agony auntNeeds a break from what, your imaginary relationship? I know this is harsh, but in two years you two have missed out on real connections with people for a virtual relationship that is more fantasy than reality. You love the idea of him, but you won't know if you really love him until you two spend real time TOGETHER.

I doubt he's lost feelings for you, but he's questioning what those feelings mean. Especially since you never are actually together.

If I were a betting man, I'd also be putting money on him attracting the interest of someone close to him who he can actually be with. That's pure speculation, but I wouldn't doubt that could be behind a change like this. Sorry.
