I could really use some help..

I have an important exam to sit for in about 2 months time, let's just say its going to be a life changing exam,it either breaks me or makes me..

BUT the place I live I wouldn't say its too noisy but in the afternoon because of the traffic, the horns, the cars it gets a little crazy, and I don't want to go the library because I need usic real loud, and walk about when I'm reading..

Also, I was thinking of using these device that you insert into a ear and you wouldn't be able to hear a thing at all!! Would that work? Anyone knows where I can get it online store?please do help..thank you!

iloveblue agony auntTo each his own. I thought at first you could not listen to traffic noise but could listen to loud music which actually and strangely is some people's preference. Some people study that way believe me.

Anyhow,I would, as others have said, suggest earplugs. I've got this headset I bought and its literally earplugs. Like you have to insert it in your ear and it blocks the noise. I am really satisfied with what I am using now, try visiting one of your local shops and go look for this. I am sure they could show you one.

Better yet, buy this earplug and stay in the library, for sure it will be totally quiet there. Go to a place there where there are less or no people hanging out. I used to go near the history shelves and the newspaper archives area in my university library and I really could study there so much.

Also, have you tried studying late at night when everyone has gone to bed? Use your headset then if there may be some occasional street noise.

Good luck to your exams!

CindyCares agony aunt Then, foam earplugs or silicon earplugs.

Or, again, the library .You don't really need to walk around to remember things, it's just a habit you've gotten which surely you can ditch applying a minimum of self restraint ?

Or maybe you could ask some other student who's preparing for the same exam if they have a quiet place where they study and if you can join them to study together ( this, if you are self disciplined types who would not take it as a chance for hours of gossips and chitchats :)

Daisy_Daisy agony auntWhy is the library out of the question? Your can do a bit of walking about, though no stomping or pacing....!

I work in a hectic & sometimes noisy office and I put on headphones with music - nothing too distracting or loud. It's not ideal but it does help.

There are other quiet places - the park if its not too cold outside. A quiet coffee shop?

Good luck with your studying!

Omg that came across wrong.

I meant I don't need music,in fact even slight sound at the background annoys me, I need to study in complete silence!

CindyCares agony auntI don't think that loud music and walking around are the best way to concentrate for a life changing exam ( or any exam as for that ), ... anyway... , why don't you just use an mp3 with headphones ? At a high volume ? So the music will pour into your eardums cutting out background noises.
