writes:Hi everyone,I met with my ex for a few drinks on Sunday for the first time in 7 years since we split up.We were together for 6 years prior to splitting and it was my decision to end things as I just felt that we were at different points in our lives and we'd got together quickly after my marriage ended.He went on to meet someone else and I've had dates etc but nothing serious. I was the one that got back in touch with him via a birthday card in April where I asked if he'd fancy meeting up as friends for old times sake and as mates as there were a few years after our split where we didn't speak at all.He did contact me and said he was still in a relationship but would like to keep contact via phone as mates and that was fine by me.He then told me in June that he was going away on holiday, alone but didn't actually say that his relationship had ended.I then got a text a few weeks later where he mentioned going for a drink. Again fine by me and I will didn't know status of his relationship.We met on Sunday and had a really good chat about life in general and we got on so well. I really don't know how I came to feel like I did all those years ago as he really is my soulmate. I found out his relationship had ended a few months back and we are now in touch still and texting etc about how we feel.We haven't arranged to meet up again as yet as I think we are both working through our thoughts and feelings but if we were to try again in a relationship, would it work?Many thanks.

Hey there,
I'm not sure whether any person can definitively tell you whether or not this relationship will work.
It is up to the two of you to give this relationship 100%, and to nurture this into something really wonderful. Since you were the one who called it off the last time, you could think of what caused you to be unhappy then, and the two of you could work on that not happening this time around.
It really is wonderful that you have got back together with someone with whom you had a genuine, loving relationship with. All the very best to the two of you.
