 If you didn't hear it from him, assume it's not true. There are so many reasons people lie, so who knows what could be going on here.
Try asking him if what you heard is true, and tell him the source. He will respect you for your maturity if you go to him and ask instead of getting caught up in the he-said-she-said drama.

Your friend could be lying, or your crush could be lying to your friend, and if he does hate you, it is impossible for us to tell why..try reflect on what you could have been doing, for him to dislike you, are you constantly following, or annoying him? hope this helps x :)
