That is quite a predicament. I have been thinking while I was reading your question. Your feeling was right as this is wrong. Your best bet would be to limit your communication with cousin for a bit and concentrate on your family at home.
It will be your choice if you wish to tell your wife. I am usually one for honesty, however...your family and her family could become quite enraged over something like this.
But my honest opinion would be to try to put that behind you and focus on wife
