Hello, so, I am engaged, with a woman that I absolutely love, care for, and means the world to me. Randomly today she told me she was going to take a pregnancy test, she said it was nothing and no reason why... well I finally got it out of her.

Last week we had unprotected sex... about 3 times I believe. She is on DEPO which has a 0.3 failure rate. So she tells me she's been throwing up in the morning and feeling overall icky. I was somewhat excited, I mean, I did have the, oh **** moment too, but overall I felt excited and happy. Though, 7 days, we she be feeling that already? She seemed more nervous and scared than I was, and questioned if I was still going to marry her? If I was mad at her... which of course I'm not and Which of course I would still obviously marry her, I love her to death.

Well, we have talked about it and she would love children, as would I, but not right now because of the situation of deployment to Afghanistan and such. Tis the reason why she's mostly nervous and didn't seem so enthusiastic.

Anywho, my question is, 7 days into it, if she was, would she be showing signs already? What signs would she be showing if any at all, and isn't to early for a home pregnancy test? Usually don't those show up positive after 14 days?

THANK YOU!

A female reader, anonymous, writes (6 October 2008):

Yes it is possible for some woman to have symptoms that early. I have had a total of 6 pregnancies with 3 living. I didnt get the early symptoms with my first one but with my last two I did. Not so much nausia for me as heart burn, fatigue, and sudden mood swings like crying for no reason.

DoubleM agony auntPregnancy is possible at anytime you near an excited penis into very close proximity to any fertile woman's pubic area of interest. It really depends on some degree to the particular person's menstrual cycle.

In truth, and based upon some experience and much study, you can be fairly likely to have unrestricted intercourse much of the time during a woman's cycle without conception. Some people do not want you to know that, but it is fairly difficult to conceive near the times of menstrual cycles because the necessary reproductive organs are simply not in a receptive mode until just before, during or shortly after something called ovulation. This is typically a couple of weeks, usually at least 10 days, following menstruation.

Are they not teaching basic sex education in the U.S.A. these days?

Within a few to several days prior to or following a normal and healthy menstrual period, the likelihood of ensuing pregnancy is fairly low. There is still and never a guarantee. It could still happen. At about or a few days before the two-week mark following a period, the highest probability of pregnancy increases dramatically during unprotected sex. Ovulation, which is the biological release of the female "egg,", typically happens about midway between periods. Whenever this occurs, pregnancy may result. Period. Just remember that truth, and be very careful, unless you and your partner are totally ready for parenthood.

If she's on the injection then the chances of her being pregnant are tiny compared to all the million other bugs that could be making her sick in the morning.

Don't get your hopes up.

If she is pregnant then you need to get her to a doctor asap as I have no idea what the effects of that injection are going to have on an unborn baby.

Afghanistan is a long way away and not exactly easy to get home from for the birth.

Hope that she is not pregnant as having hubbie away during pregnancy, birth, new born and teething is not fun. And the military is not going to care about you and your father bonding time.

Good Luck!! xx
