writes:i like a lad, i am 16, he is one or two years older. my brothers play for a football team, they are the blacks, that lad helps coach the reds. i know all of his family, i mean i have seen and talked to them a bit, but i mainly know his mum, i talkto her more. once he went to one of my brothers football matches, i kept on shortening my skirt up and putting lip-gloss on a few times, is that flirting, i don't know. recently i went to my brothers' football presentation and he was there, he was in a suit and tie, he was fit. i might see him on sunday, what shall i do, talk to his family, talk to him, or what? i am shy, so i dn't know what to say either. please help

In answer to your first question - if you think you were flirting, you were ;) flirting isn't a case of it is or it isn't, it's just behaving in a way that lets the other party know you like them. And by the sounds of it he'll probably have an idea :P
In answer to your second, you could either get a friend to talk to him for you or, better yet, just go up to him and talk to him yourself. Maybe you could use your relationship with his mother to join a conversation between the two or if your brother is friends with him get him to get his attention.
Either way, when the two of you do start talking continue with the flirting (although don't make it too overt) and even if you feel shy pretend to be confident - it'll have the same effect. Take lots of interest in his life and act relaxed around him and I'm sure things will start to happen :) good luck
