hey people. So basically i am a very petite 5"2 brunette with 32dd breasts. I have two offers on the table to do topless modelling. A couple of years ago i wanted to do it, but now, i hate my boobs. they just look ridiculous on me and i am seriously considering a reduction, but this means the modelling will have to be rejected. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO

PLEASEE HELP?

CindyCares agony aunt I can't say I can relate- I am a 36 DD now ( 34 when I was younger and slimmer ) , 5'3'', and I never felt ridicoulous, I felt faboulous :) Sure boobs are not everything and there are tons of beautiful flat chested women, but I'd say ,all in all, having a nice rack is a plus, not a minus, so if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Maybe not acccepting ( all of a sudden, too ) your body comes from your mind, not from an actual body defect, and if this is the case, if it weren't the breast, it would be something else. You'd fix your breasts, and you'd feel unsatisfied about your hair, weight, skin, etc.

How come you had this shift of perception in the last two years ? If you can pinpoint that, maybe it would help make a decision.

Anyway, as other posters have suggested, you can always first put together some money with the topless modeling, THEN have your operation.

A female reader, k_c100 United Kingdom +, writes (5 July 2011):

k_c100 agony auntWell I'm 5"3 and have 34E breasts, so I sort of know how you feel. Yes at times I think mine do look a bit too big, but never so bad that it would be worth spending thousands of pounds on surgery or living with very bad scars for the rest of my life.

Having a breast reduction leaves you with scars far worse than a simple brest augmentation - they have to remove the nipple and replace it again, so there is a scar around the entire nipple, and there is a scar running from the nipple down to skin that joins with the ribcage, and then there is a scar around the entire underside of the breast. It is a painful healing process too, and when you think about the cost - is it really worth it? At a 32DD you have big breasts, but they are not silly. I think you would hate your breasts far more with all the scarring that will take years to fade, having big boobs is better than having large bright red scars surely?

I dont think you should do either option to be honest - topless modelling is a bit cheap and it wont make you feel good about yourself. The money might be good, and if you really want the money then fair enough - but I dont think it is a good thing to do. And the breast reduction isnt a good idea either!

I suggest you just leave both options alone and learn to love your body the way it is. Millions of girls would die to have your figure and your boobs, yes you may be a little uncomfortable with their size but we all have days like that. You would be far more uncomfortable with the pain and scarring from a reduction, so learning to live with your shape as it is will be a much better option. If you think they look silly, then try not to draw too much attention to them and reduce their size through clever underwear and clothing. You can buy breast reducing bras in M&S which smooth out your shape and make your breasts look smaller. Dont wear padded bras or push up bras, only wear T-shirt style bras and simpler styles so they are not enhancing your breasts. Try not to wear clothing that is too low cut or clings around the chest too much.

If you have tried everything to minimise them through clothing and underwear and still you hate them, then maybe in another year or so think about the surgery. You said at first you wanted to do the modelling but then you changed your mind and started hating your breasts - so clearly your feelings are up and down with regards to your breasts and you are not consistent in your desires at the moment. I would say that if you are going to have surgery, you need at least a full year of solidly wanting a breast reduction, you need to be absolutely certain for a long time. Having surgery is a massive, serious thing so you need to be 110% certain that it is the right thing to do.

I hope this helps and good luck!

A female reader, Orbiter United Kingdom +, writes (5 July 2011):

Well if you *want* to do the modelling why not do that for a bit first and then if you still hate your breasts, have a reduction then.

Unless you have other health problems thanks to your boobs (e.g severe back ache) I wouldn't advise surgery just yet. You're fairly young and if you liked your boobs a few years ago and now have suddenly changed to hating them......I'd just wait until you're a bit older and more comfortable with your body. Surgery's a big thing, it can go wrong and there's also a chance they'll just return to their original size over time. So if you can get over it and just feel good about your body as it is then that's really the best option.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (5 July 2011):

In this situation... do what you feel makes you happier. You clearly don't enjoy your breast-size, though the shallow amongst us would have a hard time accepting that.

In the end, your body and your choice. If you think you would be happier with a reduced breast size, then go ahead with the reduction.

Even if you no longer get this modelling job... if having huge breasts is a deal-breaker then it was never worth it in the first place. Other opportunities will come along.
