My married boss (she doesn't know that I'm married) and me have flirting (nothing serious) a lot lately. She even gave me a raise for no reason. Then one day my wife came to my work unexpected because I forgot my lunch. She saw us flirting got very upset. It got so bad my boss had to leave to give us some privacy. She started crying because she thought that I was cheating on her and ashamed of her.

I got home later that day. She yelled at me then threatened me with a divorce if I don't starting wising up. Is she overreacting? What should I do?

A male reader, anonymous, writes (20 November 2008):

What is the point of flirting with others when you're married anyways?

When you married your wife you made a commitment to her and to develop and foster your love together. With this commitment it means that you refrain getting attached emotionally and sexually with anyone else.

There will always be people out there that would be more of a match for you and people who are more of a match for your wife, this should be an acknowledged fact. But this point is quite insignificant for all relationships anyways. Fr example it's the same as one having a potential to be the smartest in the world but ends up underachieving where another doesn't have the same potential but ends up overachieving, poeple's potentials are a small matter academically in the same it is for relationships it all depends on how you make it work.

Especially as a marriage is supposed to devote one to the other so that each becomes the other's perfect match over time.

People in a marriage are supposed to have the maturity and responsibility to understand that there are temptations and better prospects, but to stop, refrain and avoid beforehad for anything to develop at all.

Keep that in mind, you may not actually be cheating on your wife, but you're getting yourself immaturely close to it as they say 'things happen' such is human nature. So in other words 'wisen up' and understand what I'm saying as I agree with your wife entirely.

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (20 November 2008):

She is not over reacting, she caught you in the act of flirting with your boss and probably heard what you were saying, which probably implied you were cheating.

I'd be absolutely devastated if I found my husband doing that.

What you should do is wise up! Go home and BEG forgiveness, take her flowers and promise to look for a new job.

Then do that, look for a new job and don't do anything that you wouldn't do in front of your wife.

Good Luck!! xx
