So, I am in love with this guy who I met online we shared pictures and we talk a lot ( been a year now ..we still talk). It didn't work out and we were just phone friends. Lately he's been hitting on me and told me he would pick me over anyone if he had a chance. Now I recently found out he thinks hairy people are EWW and I am... well really hairy all over. I love him to death but can't tell him all that I am meeting him for the first time on his birthday soon. What should I do? I am really depressed.

NightLad agony auntYou said that you ‘love’ him. That is a powerful statement. If your friend reciprocates your feelings, and I mean /truly/ returns them, than I can assure you that your hair will be secondary in his mind. Sure, he may still have a preference for the surfboard-look (waxed and shiny), and perhaps a compromise can be reached between you down the road, but he will first and foremost accept and love you, the person. Our bodies and all their quirks are only the shells our true selves wear. I am not my skin; you are not your hair; and /true/ love transcends all things.

Infatuation on the other hand, that is a feeling often mistaken for love but is quite affected by superficiality.

If you like your fur than I suggest you try to work out a compromise. Perhaps you could just (temporarily) get rid of it in certain areas that he may find less appealing; shoulders, back, etc. Maybe you could try a close trim with electric clippers on setting 1 or 2 on your chest & belly. That way it would still be there but not as... woolly. There are many options out there, pick the one the works best for you.

I caution you against doing anything permanent, if it would be only to appease him. Remember that there are a lot of wonderful guys out there who enjoy men with fur. Believe me. ;)
