A female Canada age 22-25, mewmew writes:

I really liked this guy and i knew him only online.I stopped going online and he started calling me 3 months after i stopped going online. He called me with 5 weeks difference, because i had feelings for him i tolerated that.He told me he wanted to visit me in canada and he wants to get married. He lives in uk and im in canada,he wished me a day after my birthday passed and he said "happy fucking birthday".When i asked him what he meant by that he said he wished me like he would wish any friend.I was really hurt by the "any friend" part and i told him that i dont want to talk to you and im going to delete you from my msn.He said 'bye' and 'i will too'.I dont understand, was i too hasty in saying that i dont want to talk to you? i know he will never call me again or ask me to add him back, what did i do wrong?

What a jerk!!! I dont think you did anything wrong. I think what happened was more about HIM then it was about you.

No decent, mature, respectable guy would of said 'happy fucking birthday' to a lady.

A reader, anonymous, writes (20 July 2008):

honey, you are too old to be falling for these lines and to not recognize a phony when you see one. for all you know, he could be 65yrs old and married. you have to be smarter at your age and not fall for this silliness, dear. no self respecting woman would have believed any of this nonsense about marriage and put up with foul language and sarcasm on your birthday.
