My husband told me I stole his money

A female United States age 41-50, *ubaab writes:

"OPs own title" Please I really need help. I met my husband 2 years ago. We were in different states. We marry in Islamic way with out any paper work. after that I was still in my state. my husband gave me his checking card to use for money. I never used more then $300 every month. he bought me a car almost $3000 . Three months ago I moved to him. when I was there we fought and I came back to my state. Now he called me and said he is going to court because I stole his money. God know I never did. I just used his card for little bit money. So if he go to court what will happen? May be the judge punish me. please help I am worry

RyanS agony auntIf your husband gave you the checking card for monthly expenses, then your case is strong. Do not worry. I think he is trying to put pressure on you so that you can return the car. You don't have to return any money to him. You did not steal his money; he gave it to you. Stay away from this person.

YouWish agony auntWhen you get married, all property, from money to possessions to houses are COMMUNITY property, which is why when you divorce, you can get half of a 401(k) and stock equity and house equity. Also, the debts are split too.

Moo's Mum agony auntI'm not a lawyer but I'm fairly confident a judge will take one look at this and tell your husband to go away and stop bothering him/her.

I hope you are not going to stay married to this idiot!
