My boyfriend went to eat me out and he said that I "smelled bad" he didn't say it was fishy, just smelled bad. What can I do to fix this? I know I don't have any infections. Is there any soaps, cleansing pads, etc. I could use to fix this? Thanks!

Don't use anything inside. Vagina is a self cleaning place.

Do you shave down there? Hair could give this smell.

Otherwise, if you wash it, and there is no infection, you should be fine. Some men just don't like to give oral, like some women don't like to give either.

well you didn't describe the smell (or he didn't)

all the vaginas smell. its an internal organ which directs the waste out of your uterus. so it smells naturally. some of them are tolerable, some are not. and smell gets stronger when you are aroused and oozing.

oral sex is not for everyone. if you are clean and healthy but your smell in not tolerable, then use a vibrator instead of his tongue. vibrators are much more effective than men, and they don't mind your smell. have fun.

A female reader, person12345 United States +, writes (29 October 2012):

person12345 agony auntI agree with what's been said. Make sure you are clean and have no infections. NEVER EVER douche. EVER. You will with 100% certainty make yourself smell worse and probably give yourself an infection. When you soap don't get soap inside your vagina. If he finishes inside you, try switching to condoms. Semen can definitely change the way you smell. Also you will probably smell best around when you ovulate, so have him try then.

Unfortunately though some guys are just not a fan of the smell. Some love it, some don't.

A female reader, Honeypie United States + , writes (29 October 2012):

Honeypie agony auntI would go (for peace of mind) and see your GYN - you could have Bacterial Vaginosis.

And if you come back clear, then I will agree with Cerberus.

How lovely does he think his dick tastes?

Also it's a fact that the scent changes throughout the month. Blood can up set the PH - and so can semen. So if he ejaculate inside you it's easy to get yeast infection or other vaginal infestations. So always use a condom.

It seems unfair, and no amount of feminine deodorant spray or natural herbal methods is going to much change a genetically-bad smelling vagina into a rose garden.

Further, the use of flavored, scented, chemicalized or even “natural” ingredients can harm the vagina, changing its natural pH or otherwise upsetting the tissues.

You know the saying you are what you eat? Yea, if you eat junkfood, loads of red meats, drink a lot of coffee and smoke there is a chance you don't taste so good below.

I would suggest you start by going to the GYN. If you get the all clear I would suggest you start upping your water intake. Start your day with fruits - mango, pineapple, apple strawberries can actually "flavor" you below.

Also, showering before sex (don't use soap on the inside though, when the PH balance of your vagina is upset you can get all kind of smells and itches.

A female reader, ImmortalPrincess United States +, writes (29 October 2012):

ImmortalPrincess agony auntThere are a couple of things you can try to help stay fresh, in between washings - Such as deodorizing feminine sprays. You can find them in the supermarket with the other feminine hygiene products - Scented baby wipes work nicely too. Other then that, the main thing is to just make sure you're clean. There is a difference in the smell of a woman's natural scent, and a dirty vag.

Sageoldguy1465 agony auntCerebus has nailed it .... AND, if your B/F finds the aroma of your vagina to be offensive.... THEN, I guess he'd better get himself some corrective lenses AND some of those glucosamine pills that will help with his "tennis elbow".... because he's gonna spend a lot of time with the

Palmer Sisters"!!!!!!!!

YOU,... have fun....

xTheAlmightyDuckx agony auntOh and just saw this question after answering the one about not being able to stay wet.

May i say this seems abit strange, that you can't stay wet and you smell abit bad down there.

These are both signs of an infection or an STI. So are you sure you don't have an infection or an STI?

I would double check just to be sure, its better to be safe than sorry.

Good Luck xx

A reader, anonymous, writes (29 October 2012):

No OP, if you don't have any infections and you're clean down there then it's just your natural odour and he just doesn't like the smell of pussy. Some guys just don't OP. I personally love it, even moreso when it's late in evening and my girlfriend hasn't showered since that morning.

You're best off going to see a ob/gyn and seeing if you have any issues, there are lots of things, not just infections, that can mess with the balance down there and make it more odorous.

Otherwise he may just not like the natural scent of a woman, in which case it's irrelevant as long as he's willing to ignore the smell and keep giving oral.
