A female reader, person12345 United States +, writes (3 June 2011):

person12345 agony auntShe can't get pregnant from that. Everyone else has covered the issue of hymen tearing, but I think it's a little confusing to be having anal sex and still be worrying about virginity, seeing as anal sex is generally regarded as more "extreme" sex than vaginal. Since virginity is purely a psychological or spiritual concept rather than a physical one, it's a little difficult to say that anal sex doesn't constitute penetrative sex.

Also if there was blood from you simply touching the opening to her vagina, that means it probably came from her rectum, meaning you are tearing the delicate tissue there, which can lead to infections. You need to use a condom even (especially) during anal sex since a) if you have an STD it is more easily spread through anal than vaginal and b) it can give you a UTI from the fecal matter. You also need to be using an enormous amount of lube to prevent tearing and/or pain. You also should never let your penis touch anywhere near her vagina after anal since you can give her a very nasty infection.

A female reader, Tisha-1 United States +, writes (3 June 2011):

Tisha-1 agony auntThe lady in question should probably see her doctor. The anal canal carries bacteria that, should they get into the wrong place, can cause extremely nasty vaginal infections. If she bled from the vagina, there's a likelihood that the hymen was torn, and this in some cultures defines 'virginity.' Anal bacteria and torn vaginal tissues together may cause some problems for the lady.

'Virginity' can be defined in many ways. Some think that only the act of putting a penis in a vagina constitutes the loss of virginity; others believe that being sexually active in any way, especially something like anal sex, means that the individual in question is no longer a 'virgin,' as they are sexually knowledgeable. It basically boils down to individual and cultural interpretations.

If there was semen present on the tip of the penis and it was on the vulva (female genitalia) or introduced into the vagina, there is alway the risk of pregnancy.

The best way to prevent pregnancy is to practice safe sex which involves using contraceptives, such as condoms.

The best way to prevent sexually transmitted infections is to practice safe sex using barrier methods, such as condoms.

The advice to the lady in question is to see her doctor, urgently, and to use condoms for all sexual activity involving a penis near her genitalia and for that matter, for oral sex.

And NEVER allow a penis which has been in the rectum to go into the vagina without a thorough cleaning, that's just basic sexual hygiene.

Perhaps some basic sex ed is in order?

Please practice safe sex and do see your doctor to be sure everything is okay!

Take care.

A female reader, RedAthena United States +, writes (3 June 2011):

RedAthena agony auntwhere did the blood come FROM?

Anal sex can not lead to pregnancy because the anus is part of the digestive system, not the reproductive system. (Check out an anatomy book on the female reproductive system!)

However, unprotected sex where the penis touches can result in pregnancy in rare circumstance. An unsheathed penis can have droplets of "precum" with active sperm in it. This can transfer to the vagina and result in pregancy, but only in rare circumstances.

If she was bleeding from the anus/rectum during anal do not continue! She was probably in pain. The anus is not meant for sex, only to get rid of waste from the body.

Virginity is lost if the penis enters the vagina. She may still be a virgin, but her innocence is lost.

If you are going to have sex of ANY kind, use protection if you do not want a unplanned child.

A female reader, Anastasia Trinidad and Tobago +, writes (3 June 2011):

Anastasia agony auntA woman can only get pregnant if you ejaculate in her...she will not be able to get pregnant if your penis just touches her vagina. Her virginity ( hymen ) will only be torn if you enter her.

And, no you cannot get pregnant from anal sex, you can only get pregnant from vaginal sex.

Please use a condom with any sex that you are having.
