writes:I had sex on the 20th of Feb, and we used protection of course, and i even checked if there were any holes in it by filling it with water. my period is due real soon and yesterday i felt like i had it all day but i didnt, and today ive been getting brown icky discharge, I've been really moody, had the occasional pre period acne and well feel like ive gained some weight. Does this mean i am possible pregnant? or am i just overreacting and i just have to wait till this week is through to get my period. I have never thought i would get pregnant because we were very cautious and he didnt even ejaculate in me or anywhere near my private area. ??

and about the weight dont over react its normal whenever you have your period you gain weight and then you loose them i have this all the time dont worry your fine just dont be so stressed out.

reader, anonymous, writes (2 March 2010): This is verified as being by the original poster of the questionthanks everyone for the advice, i do feel like im stressing too much and its because i googled "brown discharge before period" and all i saw was pregnancy written everywhere and ive been really worried.. i remembered having this happened to me, so i guess its telling me my period is coming soon. By putting water in the condom, i meant, after we were done i checked to see if there were any holes init by inflating it with water and checking if there was a leak or not. i didnt do this before sex or during. i just heard that its a good way to see if it was torn or not. so its still brownish and im wearing panty liners just incase, and will update as soon as i get it :)

reader, anonymous, writes (2 March 2010): Definitly sounds like your period, besides the "brown discharge" is old blood that I guess you could say has been sitting for just a lil bit. Tht happens sometiemes. The weight gain is probably you starting to get bloated. Sometimes when you worry about getting pregnant the stress of it causes your period to be late... kind of think of it as your body playing tricks on you. If you don't have your period in a week though then I would suggest you take a pregnancy test. I highly doubt you are pregnant though.

I don't think you are - it seems like you were both careful, but its worth doing a test to put your mind at ease. Something I do- is to buy a twin pack of pregnancy tests, using one and keeping the other in the cupboard. Not because I'm constantly risking pregnancy! but some times your time of the month does do weird things, even if your usually regular. By keeping a test in the cupboard you can stop stressing out so much so quickly. You should always use protection, but its sounds like your head is screwed on.
PS- FA i think she may have used a diaphram? Water check is common when using those.

 I've never heard of that method of testing a condom. I'm not sure it would be effective.

I'm pretty sure you're not pregnant. but if you are in doubt at all, take a test. Though to be honest, I don't think you're pregnant.
