reader, anonymous, writes (27 October 2009): hmmm well imm 16 and my bf is a senior. so after prom i know hes going to want to have sex. thing is, im a virgin. so in my case, we are in a serious long term (2 1/2 yr) relationship but i dont wana lose it yet :) and our relationship is perfectly ahmazing haha even without sex, now and on prom night. now, i know this is not the choice for some people our age, so if u and your girl are ready and are definately planning to protect yourselves then id say go right ahead. just make sure you are not doing it (no pun intended) just to do it or because "everyone else" is. make it special and something you will remember and not regret, not just a drunken haze of sloppy sex on prom night.

I think that it's better to have sex with someone you care about, and who you know cares about you. A lot of people have sex with someone, then feel bad after because they didn't know them and ultimately felt used. You are in a relationship, so if you're sure you're ready, and if you're sure your girlfriend is ready, then by all means go for it. But make sure you're both ready and don't be pressurized, or pressurize her. There's no rush. Take your time. no doubt on prom night there will be a lot of broken hearts, hopefully yours won't be one of them.
