Butterflyfly agony auntdo you wanna lose weight or do you wanna look your best possible stunning shape? i'd go for the way i felt in my body - fit and energetic rather than lethargic and having trembling legs and not being able to run after a bus or get to 2nd floor taking the stairs.and there' no way you build an excessive ammount of muscle unless you're on a bodybuilder's exercise programme. i used to train 7 hours a day ( i played a ball game proffessionally - and i always was skinny but with a bit of muscle, and weighting 70kg. get a personal trainer to explain to you how it works....

ok i was 10 stone and a few days later ive lost pounds. im also doing about 100 situps a day along with other exercises. exercising is a good way of loosing fat but it also helps muscles to get bigger. But because muscle weighs more than fat its going to be difficult to reach my goal of weight

hlskitten agony auntWhen i gave up smoking, started using the lateral thigh trainer & started calorie counting to max of 1200 per day all at the same time, i didnt lose a pound on the scales after 4 weeks, i was gutted! Then i realised the fat was turning to muscle. Within a couple more weeks the pounds started coming off on the scales too, before i knew it i had lost half a stone. Thats all i needed to lose really & i went back down to a normal 10 from a 12.

If you exercise & calorie count you will inevitably lose weight. The important thing is how you feel though. Its not always good to step on the scales more than once a week.

A female reader, Basschick Australia +, writes (10 August 2007):

Basschick agony auntDon't look at the scales, look at how your clothes fit. Your "muscles" may weigh more on the scales, or about the same as before, but you'll be trimmer and leaner regardless. Exercise is key. It keeps things firm and compact (smaller waistline, trimmer thighs etc.) The number on the scale can be deceiving but if you're fitting into clothes you couldn't wear before because they were too small, then you're on the right track. Good luck.

Because even though the dropped weight won't show up on your scale, it will show up on your smaller pant sizes.

Like the scale may show that you are the same weight as before. But you'll drop from your current dress size to a smaller dress size.

A female reader, Polly Russell-Furse United Kingdom +, writes (10 August 2007):

Polly Russell-Furse agony auntHi,

Your muscle tissue will not be an issue once you have lost the weight as there is no huge difference.

If we look at it the other way round. Once a person starts to gain weight, they do not gain muscle they are putting on more and more fat. This is the fat they are then attempting to lose to to back down to the weight they originally were.

The cells in the body that hold the fat will become smaller and muscle tissue will develop. When a weight trainer develops their muscles to lift heavy weights, then their body mass will be heavier.

By exercising, you will be reducing the fat cells by burning up the fat as energy, your weight loss should be sufficient if you are following a healthy eating plan and your goal should be correct for your body, height and stature.

I am a qualified weight consultant, so if you need any tips on how to lose weight and boost your health, please let me have the following.

Your current weight:

height:

bust size:

waist size:

hip size:

as well as your age.

Hope this helps. Let me know how you get on.

A male reader, Danielepew Mexico + , writes (10 August 2007):

Danielepew agony auntYou will lose weight because, though muscle weighs more than fat, it also consumes more calories to be maintained. And then, if you gain, say, five pounds of muscle, but drop ten pounds of fat, that's your gain.

-Colour-Me-Sober- agony auntGo to a local gym and ask about exercise routines or just go for a walk everyday for about an hour. And of course eat healthily.

I hope you reach your goal =]
