Hello,

I don't know what to do. I've fallen for my best friend's ex boyfriend, i even began to believe he liked me too because of the way he was when he spoke to me. We even made arrangements to kiss but he bought my best friend a valentines gift and not me! Please help...

A female reader, anonymous, writes (14 February 2007):

I know you probably feel slighted, but if you are not yet dating him (you said you had "fallen" for him, but unless you are actually going out together it doesn't mean very much, in terms of being a real relationship, where he also feels something for you).

What I'm saying is that if you two are not yet an "item" you really shouldn't expect a gift from him. Yes, it hurts because he got something for his ex. Who knows why he did? Maybe he feels something for her; maybe he wants to try again with her, no way to know.

As the other poster said, maybe he doesn't realize how you feel about him. And really, you can't ask why he didn't get you a gift but got one for his ex.

Just see how he acts toward you for now, and "swallow" this little matter.

cd206 agony auntIs it possible that he was just using you to get back in his ex's good books? Or maybe he didn't want to hurt his ex by giving a gift to someone else. There's really no way to know without asking him but remember this... Valentines Day is a stupid, cheesy, commercialised farce and it doesn't really mean anything at the end of the day.
