A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

ok so i guess im just really depressed but i need some help. So im almost 15 and i know that i have plenty of time to date but i feel soooo left out. im not a loser, and im likable but i dont know why guys just wont make their move! im kinda shy, and thats is my number 1 curse. i dont talk unless i have a reason and i have this weird thing i do; i rehearse the lines in my mind before i say them. how weird. my next curse are my parents. i love them, but they wont understand if i ask them to go out. I live in a neighborhood where going out with your girls is hard cuz im in the boonies (countryside) but i always have to ask them a million times just to go to my friends house. And imagine when i start dating! =[

My 14 year old cousin just turned 14 and she is well, kinda dumb. A guy just asked her out. I am 15 and i havent ever kissed or been on a date. i need to open up? how?

If it make you feel any better I didn't have my first kiss until I was 19. I was a very shy person aswell - so don't think of it too badly. *nod*

Royofthe Rovers agony auntBeing shy does'nt have to be a curse, for one. Sounds to me like you need a little bit of a confidence boost. Don't compare yourself to other people, you are who you are and should be proud of that. Some guy will come along and see that and things will happen at their own pace. As for your parents. They are only being protective as crap as that sounds. Tell your parents how you feel in a mature way. Don't stomp around if they say no, but simply reason with them without losing your temper. If they see how mature you can be they may loosen their grip just a little.
